Monty had his chance and didn’t impress. Boli is out of favour with the club, Scales is a CB.

Jura is better than all of them. So we need a first choice LB.

    He’s class.

Clearance at the end was a carbon copy of the one Montgomery * up at Pittodrie.

If Ange thinks Bolingoli should play, that's his call to make. Montgomery has had good and bad games. Scales has played LB for Shamrock Rovers.

I am starting to think Juranović was brought to play LB, though. Ange likes inverted FB-s.

100% need a lb. Can tell at times how uncomfortable he is on that side and it throws the balance of the team at times as well.

It’s killing us at times not having a left footed player on the left.

Juranovic has done well but there’s only so much he can do on that side.

How good was that goal line clearance? Thought I was going through groundhog day of the goal they scored at Pittodrie.

No chance ffs, hes a rb, hes right footed, he was bought because we only had ralston and every person thought the best he could be was backup, if that.

I think when he plays left back its important McGregor plays left of the 3. He's the only one adding balance to the side. 10 right footers and a left.

By the time Juranović signed, Ralston was already tearing it up. But one doesn't bring a Croatian international to warm the bench. Ange is quite comfortable with a right-footed player on the left. I guess Juranović might be benched by Hatate?

I too, would like to see a left-footed player at LB. But Ralston has forced Juranović out to the left.

That's mad that. Didn't even think it but must be rare having only one left pegger playing..

Felt like we had more left than right footers no long ago..

Could see it today. Very lopsided at times. Fair bit of space on the right but it still goes out left.

It is, the annoying thing is though he supports Jota * amazingly, knows where to go to take a man away from him, knows where not to run to get in his road and always finds him with the ball.

Think if you had a more aggressive get to the byline overlapper on that side it just gets in Jota’s way.

I think from Ange’s perspective, it doesn’t really matter that we have a right footer playing at LB because when we are attacking the fullbacks try to tuck inside a lot

We don’t really play towards the byline and I think that’s the intention

This is true but Ralston does contribute with overlaps on the right. It'd be good to have that on the left. People cite Cancelo as an example but he's a world class player with a half decent left peg. Josip is very right footed.

    Canny drop oor Tony though

Definitely no expert on how inverted fullbacks are supposed to play but I thought part of it was to open up space (coming into midfield) but also to increase options - either pressing/attacking from that middle area or using the space created to pass the ball out to the wing and potentially support/hit the byeline.

Ralston is definitely doing both. Might be partly to do when he plays with Abada he needs that support whereas Juranovic doesn't really need to do it for Jota as he's more direct.

I think it definitely does matter, so many times Juranovic has been in great positions and can't cross effectively because his left foot is poor..

It's a weakness in the system, our fullbacks find themselves in natural positions constantly too...

We'll sign a LB in January..

Until things change drastically (injuries or loss of form) he’s our left back for the foreseeable and I’m fine with that - he’s actually improving positionally there as time goes by.

Yeah I do agree, for example there was one instance today where we had a really good chance and Juranvoic tried to cross it with his left and fluffed it over the bar.

I just wonder if Ange cares enough about it - I’m not sure tbh.

Yes there was another one where Juranovic was through and he took an extra touch rather than firing the cross into Kyogo. The extra touch resulted in him near the byline, defenders getting back because he had to run around the ball and was left to chip in a harmless cross.

It’s another reason why poor Kyogo is getting starved. When Mikey got through late in the game he fired in the cross without taking that extra touch or running around the ball. It resulted in a good save from the keeper on Kyogo’s stab at goal.

As far as Ange not worrying about it? Of course we will never know what’s on the top of his list of to do’s, but fundamentally his game is all about using the ball to do the damage. Moving the ball with one and two touches is a major part of his philosophy. Early crosses are part of that and I would hazard a guess that it may not be the top of the to do list, but I bet it’s on the list.
