This is interesting and should definitely be looked at by our management team.

Would mean actually hiring staff though.

Kennedy and Strachan are barely able to coach on the training pitch with days to build towards match fitness, are they * going to be able to do intense coaching/warm up in 15minutes. So new staff would be needed.

Said it so many times on here, we really really are understaffed to a massive level.
Someone else a few weeks back mentioned a "throw in coach" and along with a "substitute coach" it sounds stupid as *, but when you realise that players are coming on to a pitch with 8 minutes to go, but need about 15 to get up to speed, it makes perfect sense.

Would love to see us have a dozen or more coaches, some specialised in areas we would at first scoff at and consider dumb - but would show an understanding that every aspect of the game needs to be managed so much better than we currently do.

That’s what I was pointing to. A new member of the team to focus on management of subs. It definitely makes sense when you look at the positives from that video. I mean a young guy at 25 can implement those changes then it wouldn’t cost us a whole lot. You can see when the subs warm up they do about a minute or two of running and stretching on the side and just stop to watch the game for five minutes.

I instantly switch off when any headline starts with 'Ex-Celtic hero Frank MacAvennie says....'. Ive nothing against the guy and he is a Celtic fan but his opinions are all over the place. Great striker in his day to be fair.

Totally agree, again why I suggested awhile ago on here, that it wouldn't exactly cost us tens of millions to be able to have a top level coaching and backroom team.

I like from the video that they internally refer to them as "finishers" and not just side options waiting to get a chance. They are all actively involved and at the best condition possible to make an immediate impact when called on to the field.

This is a great idea, and needs to be implemented.

Hit the nail on the head for me, all these other clubs who are developing players to sell them on have a real coaching set up behind them and focus on developing their young coaches as well, particularly the German sides.

We just always seem to hire ex-players or those with connections to the club. It really does shut the door on fresh thinking. We would massively benefit from a set piece coach, look at how well it worked for Italy at the Euros.

There should also be a team of coaches with a track record of developing young players working with the B team down. Further Ange should really have been allowed to bring in at least a couple of guys who are familiar with his methods and who are able to really develop the playing style of the team.

It doesn’t surprise me though as the full club is understaffed, look at sports science, recruitment, the running of the football side are all littered with vacancies.

Back on coaches first team alone we really should have a bare minimum of 6 guys in addition to Ange we have 4 and of that 2 have been promoted within, one is a GK coach and the other is the son of a previous manager who had t coached above league 1 in England, with the exception of Woods as a GK coach, there is no specialist knowledge in our coaching department.

In fact, I would go as far to speculate that Ange probably relies on input from the Sports Science new guy more than Kennedy, Strachan or McManus.

Decision making correlates to the ability to follow instructions along with recognising the best time to do it.

Rogić has excellent timing when it comes to passes, which IMO, are harder to judge right, than a shot opportunity. We, as a team, have been mentally conditioned to play risk-free, which is in itself wrong, and at that, implemented incorrectly. We do the safe thing in the opponent's third, while doing risky things (maintaining possession under pressure on our back line) in our own defensive third.

We seem to be far too risk averse. You have to risk losing the ball to create a scoring chance. You could lose the ball whenever you shoot, play a forward pass in the final 3rd, try to beat a man or put a cross in but if you don't do those things you can't score. This is one of the reasons we're not scoring enough - we don't want to risk losing the ball.
The other reason is we don't get enough players into the box when we do put crosses or passes in. We need to play 2 strikers in certain games and get midfielders who will get into the box regularly - none of our current midfielders do it enough.

Nail on the head on both counts. I'd have thought McGregor would support the striker(s) when he was shifted upwards. We need a Ledley. He would pop up the box all the time.

    Brilliant.

Things like this will just go to endear Ange to the support (and vice versa) even more so.

Lad will be in love with this club by the end of the season for sure.
