Reading that Santo has been sacked by Spurs, Fonseca being lined up to replace him.

So they're going for the guy they turned down in the summer due to the attacking style he plays :giggle1:

Didn't he all but become their manager in the summer but at the last minute Spurs went for Gattuso but then some social media comments from his past came up and Spurs pulled the plug on him also?

Thought Santo’s sacking was premature. There were signs that the writing was on the wall, but still should’ve been allowed another month or so, imo.

    Exactly the manager Spurs needed.

Makes you wonder what happened in the summer though. Conte said to the Italian press in the summer that Spurs weren't ambitious enough, however today he's said he wasn't ready for a new job in the summer after just leaving Inter. Weird.

My understanding is Conte left Inter because of a lack of backing. They sold Lukaku and made close to £100m profit after signing Dzeko as his replacement but he wasn’t going to get much of it to spend.

Spurs wanted him but I imagine they didn’t offer him enough of a budget so they went with Nuno. Nuno never looked like working out so the Spurs board looked at one another and gave the nod.. “give Conte the cash and get him in”.

Conte played an absolute blinder here, turned them down just 3 or 4 months ago, at the time he said they weren't ambitious enough and Spurs said "That a deal just couldn't be made".

He's went back to the table and he was holding all the cards.

Not sure if it's true but the deal is seemingly for 15 million a year for an 18 month contract with an option to extend it!
Like I said, he played a blinder!

Imagine being a United fan and having Solskjaer win that game just to end up having the perfect replacement for him end up replacing the manager he beat.

What a pointless move for Conte..

Wanted out of previous job's due to lack of fund's but goes to a pish Spurs to work under the tightest chairman in Europe..

    Never working out that..

    Taken from the BBC website,

Italian journalist Gabriele Marcotti said: "There are two things that for me don't fully make sense.

"One is that it is reportedly an 18-month deal. That seems strange when you are talking a project and long term, manager security and clout.

"The other obvious thing is that you look at why Conte has left his previous jobs.

"He left Inter [at the end of last season] because they couldn't invest money and they sold his best players. He left Chelsea because he couldn't get owner Roman Abramovich to spend more money on players he wanted.

"You've heard the famous line about him leaving Juventus when he said 'they wanted me to eat out in a 100 euros restaurant with 10 euros in my pocket'. They weren't delivering in the market.

"You think of all the owners in the Premier League and the most likely to be cautious with his money is Levy. It is completely counter-intuitive."

I imagine Conte has been promised substantial funds to spend, can't see him taking the job otherwise.

That article is spot on as well..

Left richer, more successful club's who he won league's with/European cups with. Also had an attachment to some as well but he's going to a club who are mediocre in so many way's, with an owner who is as tight as it gets..

    Lol. 15 mill and offski..

150 mill is fuckall in the market they'll need to improve their squad. Their squad is ram packed with lazy, below par player's..
