Boy is brilliant whenever he plays but first thing he mentions is about fans not liking him. Simply because of injuries.


Said it before but the amount of our fans who are absolutely clueless about football is frightening.

 

Fans were way too harsh on him.

He was an exciting prospect under Rodgers and getting some good game time in the year he walked at the age of 18/19. The following season under Lennon he was one of our best players early on until he got injured. Since then he's suffered massive setbacks and by the sounds of it hasn't been helped by the so-called professionals at the club.

Mikey's quality has always been evident. I don't understand some of the vitriol that was aimed at him last season (and this year until just recently). Madness tbh. Misplaced anger if I've ever seen it. We need to stick by our players, especially the academy guys who have had terrible injuries and who happen to be pretty * good footballers.

A genuinely outstanding academy talent who has shown it at time's when he's had a wee run with us. Massive Tim and been plagued with injuries....yet alluding to stick he's received..

People were practically celebrating Lennon telling him to * off and not sit on the bench.

Embarrassing.

 

But like Forrest who hasn't really been appreciated until the last few years

 

I think that fuelled the fans to hate on him.

Lennon handled that situation completely wrong and it showed he was not fit to be the manager.

 

Having competent staff is making a difference. The more attention paid to different staff roles, the better we will be. Obviously there was nobody around to work with Mikey since the Rodgers-appointed staff went, bit by bit.

 

Mikey is a pocket rocket.

 

Interesting that Hart has came in and helped him through as well even though he’s just in the door himself. What a signing he’s turning out to be man, just having someone like that will be a huge encouragement

 

I stand by, that moment was one of the moments Lennon lost more of the dressing room.

What did that really say to the players when Lennon said that to him? Lad was silly to play on, but he was trying his best and didn't want to let the team or fans down.

Mikey has always been a talent and I think the vast majority of fans have said the same, his only issue is his injuries. Which we all know isn't his fault and the club should be doing more to assist him (and others) to rehabilitate through these and not allow them to happen with such ease.

We had similar issues with Forrest til deila finally stepped in and put him on a specialised fitness program. Same seems to need to happen with Mikey here, but we don't have that (well til McElhone came in at least)

Damien Duff said that Mickey Johnston was one of the best young players he has ever worked with. If he can stay injury free, Ange could be the man to bring out the best in him. He has too much potential to let him go.

 

Some are always too quick to turn on our own.

Welsh quite literally can’t put a foot wrong without guys slating him, or comparing him to the early Starfelt performances.

Glad to see Mikey back, and hope he can get the support he needs for his body, because on his day, he’s my fav player. Was at the first game of the season before last, when we routed St Johnstone 7-0, and, despite some very good performances by others, he was easily our best player that day.

Continual outlet and one of our most creative players.

 

Good to see him giving a shout out to our new sport science department. I honestly think the club should go to Joe Hart and put him thru his coaching badges

 

May as well chuck Mccarthy through them as well seeing as he'll be here for the next 4 years!!
