I agree, it can and tbh any team can be exposed to that though, thats whay we have a structure being built now and you can see it taking shape. My point is, with a high press, the opportunity to keep pressure on the opposition will eventually lead to a goal or two. If we keep a team thqt far pinned in, then the striker of the opposition should logically be in there half two helpong keep a negative shape, that would on most cases nullify as i lke to call the long (hun) ball

Yes, but, if the striker is excellent at holding the ball up, then the pressure can be circumvented. Giakoumakis, when he entered last game, did this a few times for us by winning fouls. Our centre backs are physically unimposing, and the fear of a striker receiving a punt in his own half, holding the ball for onrushing wingers that rampage down empty flanks (our wide defenders are not actually there) is real.

You press teams that have the ball. These teams don't keep the ball, so pressing is pointless. I don't think I can make it any simpler for you.

If we press high and play a high defensive line, the only space will be im behind the defence.
Id imagine its why Ange has bought more mobile defenders.

We have been exposed in the last few seasons down the channels, usually because our full backs are making so many forward runs and getting caught out of position.

I think Maeda would be an excellent signing, especially if we could get him for around £3m.
Very mobile, good dribbler, looks full of energy and a low centre of gravity.

But you have to wonder how we accommodate all these players..

    Yo
Your obviously no grasping what im say are ye. Like drawing blood from a stone. "these teams dont keep the ball" so if they dont keep the ball where and how do you get it back? Logic is lacking dramatically with your thought process

Seriously? You were the one that claimed pressing was the way to beat defences that constantly sit back. I was trying to explain to you that doesn't work in all situations, as in when teams don't keep the ball. I wasn't even originally talking about getting the ball back, just beating packed defences. And I'm the one lacking logic?

Add Mikey and we're looking at some really fast play. The key would be to get them to match speed and keep up with each other :56:Keeping up with Maeda could be a problem :56:

I was only thinking about the J League. I like the idea of the inverted full backs Ange wants to play with can’t wait to see it with a full 11 of his players.

CELTIC target Daizen Maeda has broken his silence on interest from the Hoops and insisted he is only concentrating on his own club for now.

Ange Postecoglou has been strongly linked with a move for the J-League's top scorer, who has 18 goals in 27 starts this season for the Australian's former club at Yokohama F.Marinos

Maeda couldn't prevent his side from slumping to a 2-1 defeat at the weekend at Cerezo Osaka, where he failed to add to his impressive season's tally.

But he made it clear he's aware of interest from Scotland, while revealing the origins of his famed speed on the pitch, after official J-League stats clocked him as the fastest player in Japan.

He said: "I know about the reports, but my job is just to concentrate on playing and hopefully scoring goals for Yokohama.

I am trying not to think too much about the speculation.

"I always think I can score goals in any match and that's all I am thinking about at the moment. I am trying to get into the Japan team for the World Cup qualifiers too. Of course, if I keep scoring goals then good things will happen.

"It's nice to be told about my speed. I wasn't aware of any records until the fans here pointed it out to me

The speed thing comes from when I was a kid. Actually, I can't remember losing a race. I think I inherited my speed from my father. I wanted to be a sprinter at one stage.

When I was a kid in Osaka, I ran around barefoot and climbed mountains without wearing shoes. I wonder if that is was the origins of my speed."

I'd say Daizen is a proper hardman, not like most Scottish wannabe hardmen.
