    It just makes sense.

Ange’s old team. Top scorer in the league. Pal for Kyogo into the bargain.

    What’s not to like?

Don't know if it still counts when you consider the time difference.

I'm not an expert but I think it's January over there already.

If we sign this guy and convince Jota to stay our attacking options are great. GG ,Kyogo or Maeda up top, two of them comfortable playing the wide positions, Forrest and Johnston coming back from injury, massive potential in Abada, really versatile across the front. Add a decent LB and another DM/CM and that's some turn around from the state of the squad in the summer.

CELTIC target Daizen Maeda has revealed how he once became so disillusioned with football he quit the game when he was younger to try and become an Olympic gymnast.

The Hoops have been strongly linked with a move for the J-League's top scorer, who has 18 goals in 27 starts this season for manager Ange Postecoglou's former club at Yokohama F.Marinos and is a priority target for Celtic in January

Maeda, 24, is widely regarded as a speed machine in Japan and even broke a J-League record in a match earlier this season after official stats recorded him making 718 sprints in a single game.

He played for Japan in the Olympics football tournament in his homeland this summer and netted for his country, but he revealed in a previous interview that he actually wanted to take part in the tournament in a different sport

Maeda said: "When I was going through my education, I was watching the Olympics and I really enjoyed it.

"Football wasn't going well for me at that time so I decided I would quit and do gymnastics instead.

"My aim was always to go to the Olympics and represent Japan in the gymnastics events.

"But I gradually realised my body wasn't flexible enough to be a gymnast, so from there, I tried to be a sprinter and worked on my speed all the time.

As I was about to quit football for good, my friends and family brought me back to the game I now love.

"They encouraged me not to give up and to work harder.

"I actually enjoyed the running part of football rather than the game at first. But then I discovered scoring goals was more fun!

"So I very nearly didn't even try to make it as a footballer.

Even when I first started out, I got my mother to send me vegetables and prepared meals every day from my parents' house in Osaka because I was homesick.

"It's been a long journey for me and I have had to work hard, but I feel it has paid off."

I don’t normally fall into the trap of watching videos of players we are linked with, but I just watched that one.

I am now convinced if we get him we’ll not only win the league, we’ll win the Europa league too.

    * sake

    Yes Please!!!

    718 Sprints in 1 game.

Mind how hard it was to get Eddy to do 1 sprint in a game last season...

He gets homesick? A potential issue, but hopefully, Kyogo could help him feel better, should this transfer happen.

Yep there's no guarantees in football. It makes sense but don't want to end up disappointed. I mean January is still a long time away as well.
