    Halloween Kills

    * gash. Never laughed so much at a horror, and the vast majority of it was unintentional comedy I think.

    The last one was decent but this was so bad. Need to let it die after the next film.

    I liked the flashback and all the Michael scenes but the dialogue was insufferable every time a character opened their mouth it was a badly done Loomis speech

    No Time to Die

    Sorry Bond fans (and I in fairness would consider myself more of a casual - have sat through them all and do have my davourites - but wouldn't say am a hardcore one), but this was not good, and a sad way for Daniel Craig to farewell as the character. And not sad in the way that the ending may've wanted the audience to feel, but sad because it's just not good, and underlines the inherant weakness of overreliance on events and plotlines carried over from previous films, in a film like this it just makes for a completely jumbled mess.

    Addams Family 2

    Likewise, underwhelming and entirely forgettable. The first animated Addams Family that came out a few years ago was a fun reboot of the property, but this sequel is lazy and predictable, and even the talents of Chloe Grace Moretz, Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac etc cannot save it.

    Mentioned it in the Netflix thread;

    The Guilty.

    It was getting rave reviews on social media and people saying “you have to watch this”. Clearly some sort of attention seeking or desperation to be the one to discover the next trend since Squid Game blew up. It’s terrible. Movies shot in a single place can be excellent if done right and Jake Gyllenhaal is a very good actor.

    Saw No Time to Die aswell;

    It’s your standard switch off and enjoy the action Bond movie. If you know what you’re getting you’ll like it. Not as good as Skyfall for me but better than Spectre. Good few hours out at the cinema.

    Michael Myers genuinely felt like a parody in that film. Now just a, quite literal, immortal killing machine.

    It’s went from being quite a slow, proper slasher/horror film to an action/comedy series. “How we can make his kills look even cooler?” “How many should he kill this time, 50?”

    The one with the car door and the gun made me start laughing. It was so bad.

    Dune was pretty decent but quite slow, think it took too long for anything to happen, visually it's top drawer

    Now just need to wait years for part 2

    No one gets out alive 6/10 Watch as many horror movies that get added to my Android box as possible. Some have been terrible but this wasn't the worst, some creepy moments.

    Aye, I think it's lost everything that made the original as good as it was. I still watch any movies related to it when they come out but this was poor I thought.

    I am massive simp for big mick tbf but I thought he was badass throughout especially in the flashback. Other than the woman shooting herself I hated all of the attempted comedy though, that big John and little John stuff was horrible. And cringe inducing dialogue throughout. If I heard “evil dies tonight” one more time I was going to go on a Myers killing spree myself.

    Don't think there is much doubt in that.

    Sadly, the business of Hollywood nowadays is entirely geared towards only committing and investing in (and especially when it comes to big budget) projects IF they are properties that already have either a built-in fanbase and/or is set with the intent of building, with the eye to sequels &/or expanding upon it's universe.

    Also they've had their fingers burned with ridley Scott twice making fuckups of the alien franchise

    That's kind of the point though. The fact that neither were particularly good did not stop them from making money on each occasion, even if they were down on what would've been hoped for. It is a formula that is designed about making the safe bet to get a return on money invested, however good storytelling, originality and creativity - or anything else for that matter - is very much a secondary concern to the studios.

    Just watched No Time to Die, I really liked it. The worst thing about it for me was the song and Rami Maleks villain, he was crap

    His weird voice in it was the only negative for me, otherwise a top Bond film.

    Really puts me off when they try and bring daft humour into a supposed horror like that, rarely works.
