Apparently he's expected to return to training after the international window.
Feels like an age since he's played. I hope he can adapt well to the new system. We miss his presence at corners. I can't remember what his recovery pace is like though?

It’ll be good to have him back but I just don’t see him making a massive difference. He doesn’t suit this style of football at all.

Aye, his lack of touch is why he's injured in the first place..

He will make us better at attacking and defending setplays but he will definitely be caught in possession a lot I fear.

He’ll also need time to get up to match fitness, which will be another concern.

Wasn't it big Duffy who clattered into the back of him?

No he smacked his knee off the post against Dundee United when racing back to clear a shot off the line at the end of last December.

Frank McAvennie claims Christoffer Jullien will come straight back into the Celtic team when he returns to fitness.

The Parkhead icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicts Ange Postecoglou will drop one of Cameron Carter-Vickers or Carl Starfelt.

Both defenders signed for the Hoops in the summer though Carter-Vickers may yet return to Tottenham when his loan spell expires.

Jullien hasn’t played for Celtic this season as he continues to recover from an injury he sustained in late 2020.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Jullien is on the comeback trail but not expected to return for the Bhoys before this month.

McAvennie claims “everyone is having a go” at Postecoglou’s centre-back partnership of choice but insisted that was unfair.

Everyone is having a go at Starfelt and Carter-Vickers,” McAvennie told Football Insidercorrespondent Ben Wild.

I’m not sure that’s fair. I’m thinking ‘this is still a transitional period.

“For crying out loud, Starfelt is still learning how to be a centre back. This is one of the first times he’s played in the middle.

“The other full-backs aren’t there which leaves them exposed. They get to high up and don’t come back.

“That’s the way the manager wants to play at the moment. It all comes back to the defence.

“I’m sure they will get better as the season goes on but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is dropped when Jullien comes back.”

Starfelt has made 15 outings for the Hoops since joining from Rubin Kazan.

Carter-Vickers has only made seven after joining on deadline day

What does he mean "Starfelt is still learning to be a centre back"? Hasn't he always been a centre back? Did he play as part of a 3-5-2 at his last three clubs or something?

Anyway, who drops out for Julien in the starting 11? Starfelt or Vickers?

CCV and Jullien should be a decent pairing.

Surely it's a no brainer to drop our worst ever defender in Starfelt?

Hes not our worst ever defender. Welsh has caused more dropped points than him. He is a victim of an utter witch hunt. Use your eyes, don't just read and copy.

Na I've seen enough from him to form an opinion. I don't recall a defender making as many horrific mistakes as he has in such a short space of time. That own goal solidified it for me

Can you think of a defender who's made more mistakes than he has in the same period of time?

    Julien our worst ever defender.

    * me sideways.

Sometimes I wonder why I don’t check Celtic Chat much these days, posts like that remind you why.

    Edit.

My bad. I thought because it’s the Juilen thread that the chat wouldn’t be about 2 different defenders.

Probably another reason why I should stay out of here :giggle1:

    Carry on.
