He was utter pish here though and we will never find out the reason why. He was full of individual mistakes that had nothing to do with the set up or Lennon.

 

Du Wei? Compper? Ambrose was pretty atrocious for us after a good first 6 months. Kelvin Wilson wasn’t very good his first season then unreal the next…

 

He was utter pish for Celtic though and a lot worse than starfelt in my opinion.

what he has done before and after Celtic is irrelevant.

 

Thought last night was his best game for us, he does need to be stronger and more of a */nasty streak our defence does seem far too nice tbh

 

Every teams defenders make mistakes in games but when ours do it there is a huge deal made about it. Driven by SMSM and pundits/comms on our games. Our defenders haven’t covered themselves in glory but it’s become the norm to slaughter them. CCV has been decent IMO and Starfelt has done ok. Not sure Starfelt is a ball playing CB so why was he signed if we were going to play out? Asks the question who is behind tue signing. Also our inverted full backs leaves them criminally exposed when we lose the ball.

Du Wei had no where near as much game time for us to give a real opinion on him.

 

I'd like to see how he would do in a system that doesn't leave our defence criminally exposed.

 

Have said this in the match thread the current system we are playing with the midfield and full backs we have is suicidal. We continue with that midfield and we will lose 6 from 6 in the group and be lucky to come 2nd in the league.

Starfelt deserves criticism overall for his mistakes and he doesn’t look comfortable on the ball but I don’t feel like he was the reason we shipped 4 goals last night and feel like he is becoming a whipping boy. Yes you would expect more from a £4m defender but that’s the scouting and recruitment at the clubs issue.

Their first goal is shambolic by Turnbull and pretty poor from Montgomery with the attempted clearance. The second Ralston gives the ball away and no midfielder tracks any of the two runners into the box leaving Starfelt with two who are at either side of the 6 yard box. The third was a harsh penalty against Carter Vickers and I have to confess I never saw the 4th when the game was well and truly done.

And we're back to the fact that some opinions are just wrong.

The hyperbole surrounding this guy is * laughable. He was pish when he joined. He's been largely fine for a number of weeks. Do we need better? Yes. But * me, he's nowhere near as bad as people are suggesting.

 

Thought it was one of his better games last night, although that’s not saying much.

 

I do think he will drop out for Julien once fit. Some players kick on after a * first season so hopefully he is one.

Brighton shipped him out on loan us. He was hardly ripping it up, was he?

Duffy was horrendous last season. He struggled to make basic tackles or play simple passes. There’s no dressing it up.

 

He made 2 or 3 good runs with the ball where he looked, out of nothing, very confortable on the ball. Don't know if that's how he would be able to play if confident or if it was just the soul of Maradona taking control of his body.
