I think he did well overall, but he needs to be making himself more available for the pass from the CBs.
Too many times Starfelt and CCV were passing under pressure and he wasn’t moving enough to put himself in a position to receive the pass.
This puts more pressure on the back 4 and either leads to mistakes, or the attack stopping in its tracks and a pass back to the keeper instead.

This system requires the midfield 3, especially the DMF to be constantly making themselves available to be the quick link between the back 4 and the forwards.

I think he has the ability to be that player though, just needs to get up to scratch with the system and his match fitness.

That was the big take away for me. He got more minutes then previous sub appearances and looked composed on the ball. Although probably still rusty match sharpness wise hence a few weird passes which didn't make sense especially given we were losing. But great to see him working his way into the line up. Maybe time for him to get his first start come Sunday against Livingston. From a defensive midfield standpoint and team balance standpoint we really need McCarthy to get fully up to speed and be a success for us.

There's a big difference being fit and being actual match fit. I can always remember coming back to playing fives at the Green after an injury and, even though I had been doing some exercises at the gym, I was blowing out my * after 10 mins football. I think he will improve given more game time.

Can he be risked on Livi’s pitch on Sunday is my biggest concern just now

Rogić can't either, so, somebody not from the first team will have to step in.

I think when he came on last night we did become more composed. Whether that was purely his influence * knows but he is definitely a sounder option in Europe than soro. And in general.

Just need him fit. Noticed even in the Ross County game he came on and does a lot of talking and ordering folk about. Which we need.

Same position yes but I would say McCarthy is more technical whereas Brown was more physical.

I've not been too impressed with him so far tbh. A bit too slow on the ball and not playing with the energy needed for the way we play but very early days and hopefully he'll adapt and improve as he gets fitter and sharper.

Not seen enough of him yet. Need to wait until he’s had a run of games before we can see what he’s gonna offer us at this point in his career.

Dont imagine he’ll start tomorrow on that pitch, but Raith at home is surely an ideal game to get him and in from the start.

Thought he was decent 1st half tbh, then the lack of sharpness showed with all the bad passes.
Would still take him over Soro though, who is rank rotten.

Another one I don’t have a clue why we signed because he looked way out of his depth against livi ffs
