You sound like you're in charge of the coffers there.

He'll go elsewhere if that's the case. We must learn from our mistakes

I can see st johnstone selling him tomorrow.

I honestly think we could regret it. He has the potential to make a real instant impact in the championship and i wouldnt be surprised if hes playing in premier league in 2 years

We have been linked long enough so youd expect we have been asked to be kept informed, could be 3 million to get him, but he will replace christies energy

We should be snapping up McCANN to replace Christie as he is just what we need in the middle of the park I think he is going to be a star player but as usual our board do nothing about it I hope he does not get signed by the Huns as he will be well known to Davis in the Northern Ireland squad he will be keeping Slippy updated on his performances for their National Team

I see St Johnstone have signed Ali Crawford on loan from Bolton for the season could he be their Ali McCann replacement if he goes?

I would go in with a £2 to £2.5m bid and offer the likes of Shaw, Connell or Henderson on loan or even a perm for Henderson given his deals up at the end of the year. Even if they look like losing Rooney then offer O’Connor.

Just get it done, I would prefer someone more physical but we badly need an energetic midfielder in there and given its deadline day, he is on our doorstep.

If he's available, we absolutely need to be signing him.

Are we actually in for him or is this just a wish that we should be?

Think this is another case of unnecessarily setting ourselves up for disappointment here. We ain't in for this guy, he will not be a Celtic player this window.

And if am wrong....Happy * days. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

He will never be a starter. Our midfield is strong even without Christie. Though if we're to get a midfielder in I would choose Mooy over this guy.

How is our midfield strong if Christie goes? It would leave us with:
    McGregor (granted, he’s exceptional)
Turnbull (not fit enough for the fixture list we have)
Soro (jury most certainly out, leaning on not good enough)
Rogic (not fit enough for the fixture list we have, plus terrible injury history and issues regarding international duty)
McCarthy (speaking of terrible injury histories…)

That’s nowhere near sufficient or good enough. We need one if Christie stays, we need two if he goes.

Our midfield isn't strong at all.

We also cant expect mcgregor to play 60 games. I dont think people realise how intense this season is going to be, playing this style.

Strong as in good starting players. Disagree re Soro - he has an engine and will come good. We also have Connel and Shaw who have potential.

Would love one more but for me it would need to be better than McCann - Aaron Mooy gives experience and terrific ability. McCann can definitely do a job but not straight away (in my opinion).

Soro isn’t good enough to start. Ange doesn’t trust him at the base of a midfield, he’s too erratic and loose in his passing.

Turnbull and Rogic can’t play together against decent sides. We got off with it against AZ, but it was very clear we can’t carry them both defensively and they’re too one paced.

Shaw and Connell obviously aren’t considered ready.

We need to sign two centre midfielders if Christie goes. I’d take Mooy and McCann - we need both, not one or the other.

Is one not a forward going player and the other a holding midfielder. Don't think it means anything tbh.

We have plenty youngsters needing game time who could be used as a makeweight in this deal.

Suits Ange’s style perfectly, knows the league and has good sell-on potential. It makes sense from a footballing and business perspective.

The same was said about mcginn he woudnt get a game etc our midfield is too strong and he went to villa and went up a few gears.

We really should be learning from our mistakes but this board never fail to amaze me.

The best talent in Scotland should be our bread and butter
