So the rest of that game didn’t matter at all? If you can’t see that we are missing a bit of dig then there’s nothing more I can say.

Physicality is definitely helpful in football. Guys like Lukaku or Van Dijk don’t need to go in “hard” to impose their ability. Good players use it to their advantage and dominate/bully players to keep possession.

Limited players like Ralston use it as a * you to a player. His tackle on Kent? Guess what, we lost possession and Kent skipped to his feet.

I know it’s not the right thread to get into so I just have a final say.

Of course the rest of the game matters. I don’t think grit/determination won the game. Neither team were that great, it was a pretty even with not a great deal of chances and a set piece decided it. Nobody would of been surprised if it petered out to a nil nil.

    Well Celtic certainly have :fear:.

Tbh it's not so much the crunching tackles but we def lack physicality in the team. We get bullied quite easily.

Ralston isn't everyone's cup of tea but whatever you say about the boy, he is no shrinking violet and I wholeheartedly approve.

The huns rolled their sleeves up and showed dig and determination in that second half, that is exactly what helped win them the game.

As you said earlier, the game was won by a set piece. A header from a corner at which a 6ft 4 defender bulleted one past our goalie.

Set pieces are all about physicality, man marking, winning your individual battle. It's no wonder we are so poor at defending set pieces when we lack that side to our game.

I think set pieces will be worth 15 to 20 points for them alone this season whereas we could quite easily see a points deficit if we continue like last year. That could ultimately be the difference when trophies are getting handed out. I have seen some small improvement tho.

You’re a strange *. There’s been a lot of posts repeating what I’ve said and you’ve not harassed them. Just an obsessed wee guy trying to twist my words because a man on the internet swore at you once.

    Which footballer doesn’t make mistakes….

The point is his recovery, attitude and commitment has been top notch, and he has scored and assisted. What more do you want from a lad playing in Scotland?

I have to agree with this. His attitude has been superb and there’s been occasions where he’s done very good things. But a lot of it appears to be sheer effort and drive, which is of course a good thing, but it has to be coupled with serious natural ability too at Celtic. A string of performances exceeding our previously ROCK BOTTOM expectations of the guy shouldn’t mean he’s a nail on for the rest of the season. I think once we see Juranović at right back we won’t see much more of Ralston this year save for cup games here and there.

Also, all this jocular nonsense about “apologising” to the guy I’m seeing on social media, do me a favour. Why should I apologise for slating the guy when he was absolute garbage when we had seen him before? Realities and opinions change.

The kid is only 22 at the moment and he played one game last season.

So when did you see him play? When he was 18 and 19?

People rip into Ralston about his past performances but do not take into account that he was a kid at the time.

I've seen many Celtic supporters complain that not enough academy kids are coming through, but then at the same time, when they are breaking into the First Team they get completely hammered by the supporters.

Which young kid in their right mind would wanna stay at Celtic if the fans are so quick to hound a youth player breaking into the first team?

The fact he has the bottle he has is impressive and Celtic fans that have a guilty conscious certainly should for having no patience with academy players.
