We had the position addressed for the past two seasons with Elyounoussi being available, your point is moot.

We are not entering a third season without a fit left winger because for the past two seasons we had one.

The only cb loans we’ve had in the past five years are Duffy and Benkovic.

It’s not at all, but we won’t agree. We still don’t have a permanent left winger bar MJ who is always injured. That’s just facts. And that’s three years now.

It took years before we addressed the centre half issue again with loans. Benkovic was signed in the 18/19 season so 4 seasons ago, Duffy last season. That’s 3/4 years is it not?

We are going back and forward and both our opinions will not change.

Prefer Lovric than a moody *. Knowing our board we're going to loan the moody * even though there's an affordable permanent solution possible. Hope our board burns in *!

That's a hefty buy out clause, but * it, I'm excited to see this boy play for us.

    Hi Keano,

Jota is a right footed player that prefers to play on the left (either as a winger or a inside forward). According to Portuguese press, the deal is done and Jota will be loaned with a buy option of ~€7M for 70% of his economic rights.

Jota (born in 99) has been one of the most talked youngsters from our youth academy (Seixal) since a young age. And that is saying something, considering that other former youth players include Rúben Dias (97), João Cancelo (94), Nuno Tavares (00), Danilo Pereira (91), André Gomes (93), Renato Sanches (97), Bernardo Silva (94), Hélder Costa (94), Rony Lopes (95), Gonçalo Guedes (96), Ivan Cavaleiro (93), João Félix (99), Gonçalo Ramos (01), etc. As a teenager, Jota was already having trials at Manchester United: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...rigina-trial-Carrington-training-complex.html

After shining in the youth teams, he played for the first time in Benfica B (Portuguese second division) in early 2017. He is around the same age of João Félix and they played together in that season. Both in Benfica B (senior football) and in the UEFA Youth League (u-19). You can see here João Félix and Jota destroying Real Madrid (4-2) in the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League 2016/17 (João Félix and Jota scored 2 each): https://pt.uefa.com/uefayouthleague/news/0253-0d04772ef9ec-9e9392f2c1a7-1000/

Then, in 2018, Portugal won the Euro u-19. Jota was the joint top scorer of the tournament, alongside Francisco Trincão (also Portuguese, played for Barcelona last season and is now loaned to Wolverhampton), and with one more goal than Moise Kean and Amine Gouiri. Jota was part of the official team of the tournament and Portugal's MVP. At that time, 3 years ago, Jota was one of the biggest Portuguese talents and everyone was guessing that he would be playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona in the near future. We are used to lose our best prospects and soon as they have a decent 6-months' period with the first team.

On February 2019 - during the 2018/19 season, when João Félix had his breakthrough and was immediately sold for €120M -, Jota was promoted to the first team for good. Since then (i.e., in the last 2 seasons), he failed to make the impact that everyone was expecting. Is hard to grasp why. He definitely did not have that many opportunities. He played some games, but often 10' here and 15' there. Maybe he lacked a sequence of 90' and confidence from his coaches, I do not know. I do not recall his professionalism ever being questioned. He is still 22 and if you go back two years there were news associating him with the bigg€st european clubs. He certainly can still make an impact and live up to expectactions.

In my opinion, going to Celtic would be a good option for him. Big club, a constant necessity to attack and win games, and hopefully, If things go well, he will be adored by a huge fanbase. I can see it working well for him.

For Celtic, you get a talented player that was the next big thing a couple of years ago with minor risk. If things go well, you buy for ~€7M. If he fails to live up to expectations, you send him back to Lisbon. I would take the gamble, he has the talent and this loan may work well for you.

From his videos he looks very tricky and technical but I didn't really like the look of him although the clips are mostly from he he was 17/18/19 maybe he has settled down now.

Reminds you of like a young Gary Mackay-Steven or that Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid, all technical, tricks and dribbling but what else does he do.

Just thinking of guys that over do it with skill and dribbling mostly for no reason, watched that Real Madrid game last night and about 5-10 minutes in he took a long ball down by putting his heel behind his other leg, controlled it well but then as the guy overlapped him and got in, he turned the wrong way and ran centrally into 2 men took a bad touch and lost it.

Fair enough trying things like that if you are 1 up early to wind people up but doing the basics correct is better.

A hot prospect who's lost his way, a loan with the option to buy, sounds perfect for us. Get him in, we badly need a left winger

Sounds like a low risk high reward situation.

Thanks for the detailed response mate.

Not this one. He's like if you put Kyogo out left, but without the hard work.

Will be honest, I’ve nae idea what he’ll be like and not watched any YT videos. But option to buy makes it much better. Crying out for a left winger

Happy with this with the option to buy, only way to make a loan deal work for us.With the Greek striker almost done we should only need a LB now unless board are willing to buy another CB too.
