I think I’m the only one who thought he done well yesterday :giggle1: thought he looked a bit dodgey in the befinning then really came into it, won all his aerial duels then and cleared his lines well. I still don’t think he’s ready yet though, pretty * back 4 we’ll have going into Tuesday without a doubt

Came looking for this thread to ask if anyone thought he’d feature this season. Going by the previous comments it sounds unlikely.

I've a mate who's a Wednesday fan and he said Shaw was definitely the better of the two.

Guess we just need to hope he develops eventually and earns a chance.

It's hard to judge someone based on pre season games at the best of times, but when you add in he had just arrived from another club, and we were in the midst of changing our entire playing style it makes it harder still.

I wasn't impressed with what I saw in those games, particularly when he played at right back, and he didn't look any better at CB than the likes of Welsh or even Murray. Still, it's early days for him, and for the reasons given I don't think we can be too critical. Physically he looks ready at least, so hopefully he kicks on and gets a chance to prove himself here.

Think he's an additional body signing for cover? Although it doesn't sound like we are after another CB by the end of the window so who knows? We are thin there.

Yeah he could be. I’m not optimistic about signing another CB. We’ll have Welsh, Starfelt, Bitton, Jullien and Urhoghide.

Bitton will never be a CB no matter how much he’s played there.

I didn’t see much of pre season but I remember reading on here a furore of compliments for the guy with “brilliant” and “absolute class” thrown about quite a bit. Surprised he’s not had a look in.

Urhoghide is simply not good enough yet. He desperately needs to be loaned out.

You sure that wasn’t for Shaw?

Urhoghide took quite a lot of flak from some in pre-season. I know it’s overused but he looked very, very raw.

Yea, did look raw, maybe best for his development would be to go out on loan in SPL, sheep or someone like that.

He has been in the matchday squads so hopefully he isn't as bad as his early form especially when at RB where he was all over the place. TBF the whole team were trying out a new way of playing at that time

Id go further than that mate, I thought he looked very clumsy. I dont think he has the technical ability. Seemed a bit all over the place. He definitely cant be used at left back, which is where he played against Charlton im sure. Didnt see it all, im afraid.

From what I have seen of the 2 to date I would say Shaw is the one who has the better chance of maybe making it at Celtic. But would be surprised if either did in the end really.

Gonna be very cagey about piling in on the lad, given how almost all the room misread Ralston's abilities. He was essentially a free, so got no issues with taking a year to develop him through the colts and seeing where he gets to...

I've heard he was supposed to be good at the youth level walking out from the back with the ball kind of stuff

Hes exactly how I expected him to be.

From what I've seen of Bosun Lawal he looks miles ahead and is 2 years younger.
