FCA warns investors on CoinBurp crypto launch
The crypto broker does not hold a full FCA registration but has submitted an application to the regulator.

Cryptocurrency broker CoinBurp has no authorisation for a planned launch of its $BURP token and initial exchange offering on Monday, the City watchdog has warned.

In its latest crackdown on crypto trading, the FCA said on Sunday the firm did not yet hold a full FCA registration, but that it had submitted an application to the regulator.

CoinBurp said last week it had raised $6m (£4.3m) to build a platform to trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs), digital assets that have become popular with investors and a pain for regulators.

In a press statement on Friday the crypto broker said:

‘Building this product means that CoinBurp - as a regulated broker - will have NFTs listed on the market and can be made available for investors in large and small quantities.

CoinBurp in currently on the FCA’s temporary registration register, which lets cryptoasset businesses to continue to trade while their application is being assessed, but does not allow firms to claim they are registered or authorised by the FCA.

‘The FCA has very limited powers to protect you if you invest in cryptoassets. We have warned previously that investing in cryptoassets (and investments and lending products linked to them) usually involves very high risks,’ the watchdog said.

‘Crypto tokens can become very difficult to sell or may significantly reduce in value – and consumers that invest in them should be prepared to lose all their money. It is unlikely that you will have recourse to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme if something goes wrong.’

The warning comes as regulators and governments around the world put increased pressure on crypto currency platforms.

I've been in NBA TopShot for a few months. Not crypto per say, but closely related with them being NFTs.

I'm only really interested because I used to collect sports cards and it's very much a digital version. There was an insane bubble earlier this year that predictably popped, but I'm up around 300 dollars value wise. If it tanks it tanks, but it's something a bit different and I'll hang on to them for a couple of years.

Some people and dogs are * though, but there is balance depending how you perceive it for example whether or not someone has robbed your crypto's or purposely stepped on your new trainers.

Well I'm basically * no matter the price as Binance no longer allows me to withdraw GBP

 

I'm far from an expert, but can't you withdraw it to trustwallet then when time comes/able to, put it back on to a different exchange?
