The guys been at many clubs since his departure at City and never held down a place. Ange's style is very similar to Guardiola's as well so if he isn't comfortable playing a sweeper keeper then the system won't work.

Back in the day I would have opened a bottle of wine and had a few glasses on him. Still like him as a player. will bring some dig imho.

I wouldn't be giving any outfield player over 30 anything longer than a 2 year deal unless they were exceptional. Never mind someone who's had serious injuries in the recent past.

If you read that you'd think we'd signed a blind hobo on a 4 year deal.

He may well not be comfortable but just because guardiola had the money to throw millions at bravo a player who was already competent at it made it an easy decision for guardiola. That doesn't mean that hart can't play it out from the back or hasn't significantly improved in that department since getting the bullet from city

That's flawed imo and will leave you missing out on tons of very handy operators. Players nowadays are far from over the hill at 30. It's the norm to go on for longer these days. Part of our problem has been an accumulative effect of almost exclusively buying players that fit in to the buy low, sell high bracket. Which usually for us means younger project types.

Too many of them and you end up with a side short on leadership and experience. I.e us now.

I hope so just seems like another massive risk surely we could have got a decent keeper in our budget that fits Ange's system if we actually had a scouting network.

Can you not get experienced players at 28 year old or something?

Fully agree and personally for me I really hope this isn't the usual solo run by the board and these are green lighted by Ange otherwise I would tend to agree with you that it will be the beginning of the end for him. Crazy to say considering the results but I've been really impressed with Ange and if we back him and give him time he will turn us into a team I think we can all be proud of and actually wanna watch

Yes as you can at 30. What's the logic in the desired 2 years age difference? A 3 year deal for either leaves you with little to no sell on value.

Surprised how negative some of the comments have been, great signing and exactly what we need given how raw soro looks, and the lack of expieranced leaders we have.

Hes only 30 years old, still got plenty of years left in him, he played 50 games in the EPL over the last 2 seasons so don't think he's as done as many folk are making out.

Regarding the criticism of the length of contract, this clearly shows a change in tact from the board from previous years, given how critical we've all been of them over the years, surely the fact things are changing is a good thing!he's a defensive midfielder who will be 34 at end of contract, not exactly ancient for that position!

We obviously still need some defenders in but this is a move in the right direction.

Maybe you can answer this mate, how many of the 50 were starts and how many did he play the full 90? Cheers.

Most players are likely to go on to at least 34/35 nowadays. Anyway as it stands we are lucky if we get a few years from the guys in their early 20's. There's no difference in getting that from someone at age 30 and you're prob getting a more canny operator to begin with. Don't want the squad flooded with them but we shouldn't be ruling them out. A mixture of ages and experience is crucial.

I'm not unhappy with the signing, but I think it stinks of lazy scouting and / or desperation.

I hope can he help, if he stays fit.
