Unlikely an option to buy will be possible in any loan for the 19 y.o.

He's an investment for the future and since Girona failed to get promoted from Segunda, it's natural City & player prefer top flight football - but he remains an unpolished gem. His time at Girona was a mixed bag, barely playing for 1st half of season or used as a sub. His 2nd half was more impressive but primarily from an attacking perspective - his defensive contributions left a lot to be desired for the 1.68m RB

He needs seasoning, so a 2 yr loan makes sense but I struggle to see City abandoning his future by including a buy option

We need 2 right backs so him and someone permanent would be good

I would take him if there is a permanent signed too and not the guy playing in Switzerland who is clearly a CB who can play RB, if Jenz is decent sign him as a CB.

There are plenty of good right backs out there, in the last week Igor Silva of Osijek went for €2m who is a good offensive full back who had a great season last year and Kelvin Amien left Toulouse for €3m both could have been good signings for us. There will be others such as Buta that’s been talked about before.

I know loans are part of the game but the way our board operate using, sales to fund transfers loans kick the can down the road and then we have no funds to replace the loan player and any money made on the sale of another player has to be spread across a number of positions not to mention the cut that goes in to the coffers.

It’s not even like we have a young player coming through that we are bringing in experienced cover for.

Oh well another one probably missed

Yan Couto, only 19-year-old right-back, is one of the targets mentioned by the club from Braga to reinforce the defensive sector. The Brazilian defender, international by the youth team, belongs to Manchester City but last season was in evidence in the Spanish second tier, at Girona, where he scored two goals in 29 games.

SC Braga has already sought information about the conditions for a potential loan from the English club, but, for now, the agreement does not seem easy, as there is a lot of competition, not only from Spanish football but also from English, for the young Brazilian who City signed Coritiba (Brazil) for a fee of around €6 million.

    CELTIC HOPEFUL OVER COUTO

Celtic still hold out hope of persuading Yan Couto to join them on loan from Manchester City.

The Hoops have been interested in the right-back since the beginning of the summer, but a number of other clubs from Europe are chasing him and Couto has been considering his options.

Celtic had moved on to other right-back targets including Aurelio Buta, for whom they could not agree a deal with Royal Antwerp, and Legia Warsaw’s Josip Juranovic.

But Couto is yet to decide on his next loan move as part of his development and Celtic are still trying to get him to move to Scotland.

It is not known how much longer they are willing to give the Brazilian, while Juranovic also has interest from elsewhere including Fiorentina and Spartak Moscow.

However Juranovic is keen to join Ante Posteloglu’s squad and is expected to cost a fee close to £2.5m – half the amount that Antwerp were demanding for Buta.

Couto would be an even cheaper option on loan, however. He sent last season with Girona in Spain.

If we get Juranovic then he’s 1st choice. I wouldn’t be against Couto as a back up, but I’d rather we signed our own youth prospect.

I don’t mind a loan but it needs to be an impact one with a option to buy.

We have Ralston for back up of we sign the guy from Warsaw. I feel if we get this guy on loan it'll be him and Ralston as our RB options this season. Not good enough as it puts us in the same position next year looking for a RB. Juranovic for around 3 mill or this guy on loan... Cmon Celtic, were building for the future.. a stable RB for a few seasons is what we need.

    I wouldnt say much more.

If Ralston goes out tonight and pulls a hamstring we have no right back at all at the club. Both should be being treated with equal importance.

I’d think a loan to buy option would be decent. We have a budget and if we need to utilise the loan option I can’t see anything wrong with that. We’ve had some horrendous RB’s before on loan that we could have bought and thankfully didn’t.
One or two loans to supplement other signings is a decent approach.
