Welcome! Hope you are more of a Johan Mjallby rather than a Daniel Majstorovic.

He is a good ball playing centre half with great pass accuracy. He is very strong positionally too although not as strong as Ajer in stepping out of defence.

A really good addition that will play in the Ange way

I just hope he's a no nonsense CB who wins his duels and adds a threat in the opposition box. Not interested in him carrying the ball like ajer did, at the end of the day ajer for how good he was he was a big * bag CB who for his height was pish in the air. We need aggression and for him to feed the ball to the guys who make things happen.

No real need for centre halves to burst forward in our new formation, they are full backs when we’re in possession at the back and one of the full backs is the guy tasked with either beating a man or more importantly making a pass forward.

I would love it if he was simply a danger at set pieces, would make a refreshing change from Ajer.

And that’s at the minimum. Depending on how Ange’s assessments of O’Connor and Griffiths eventually pan out, we could be looking at: GK, 2x RB, LB, 2x ST, and (if he sends one or more of the young CBs on loan), another centre-half as well.

We do, but dont develop them, just let them rot away in the reserves.

Ange Postecoglou tipped £4.5million new defender Carl Starfelt to be a success at Celtic– after Kristoffer Ajer completed his £13.5m move to Brentford.

Swedish international Starfelt completed his move from Rubin Kazan on a four-year deal.

Record Sport can reveal the 26-year-old arrived in London on Sunday and is quarantining as per the rules of his arrival from Russia.

The centre back won’t be eligible for Celtic’s Champions League return leg with Midtjylland.

However, providing there are no last-minute hold ups, the deal and international clearance should be in place for the trip to Tynecastle a week on Saturday.

Postecoglou said: “I am really pleased an agreement has been reached and we are really looking forward to Carl joining up with the squad.

Carl is an experienced player and someone with the attributes to be a real success at Celtic.

“He is a strong, athletic and a committed defender and will add quality to our squad I hope.

“I am sure he will be a player our supporters will welcome warmly and someone who will be really important for us going forward.”

Good defenders often don't though, when it's about position and that it Doesn't look amazing but is exactly what you want

Had to look that up there. Kouassi I take it you mean? Originally read that as Russian players we signed. Strangely, apparently only one Russian played for us, Dmitri Kharine.

Also Kouassi’s full name is J. Christ Eboue Kouassi :giggle1:

Coincidentally, had he stayed with us, I think that’s precisely the phrase we’d have ended up screaming every time he took a touch.

That was a joke about Sammy if I remember correctly. Strangers coming to Celtic Park would think his name was Jesus Christ as half the crowd would be shouting “Jesus Christ Samaras!” :giggle1:

My pal’s wee boy thought Efe Ambrose’s nickname was ‘foxy’ - turns out he was mishearing guys shouting ‘fs, Ambrose!’

Aye that's the one. Thought he would be the next superstar when we signed him, yet another in a long line of failed punts that we barely seen kick a ball for us lol.
