Agree here 100% we get fed the same lines all the time it’s tough because of prices, wages, EPL etc but do ourselves no favours.

There has already been a fair few players that would have fitted the profile of what we need that have completed moves to clubs who we could easily compete with financially.

I am all for the type of signings from Sheffield Wednesday of promising youngsters but we need a bit more than just that here.

I fear it will be sell before we buy and we will sit and wait on Eddy, Ajer and Christie or others going before we sign anyone by which point we are out of CL and chasing our tail as the transfer window shuts.

Maybe one of the reasons Griff removed all things celtic on his social media was that the club told him they might use him as part of a deal to get Nisbet. I would be happy with Nisbet provided he was a cover player to replace Griff/Bayo/Klimala. We absolutely need a top young striker to come in though to replace Eddy.

Kevin Nisbet can’t be our first choice striker next season.

Whenever I’ve seen him play he’s never stood out at all.

Griffiths getting a new deal makes no sense unless he’s being sent on loan to Hibs as part of the deal.

Nisbet would basically be a Griffiths who’s fit. Not good enough to be first choice and offers nothing apart from goals.

Re-signing Griffiths while Ajeti is already here then spending £4m on Nisbet :39: 3 strikers who aren’t good enough to be first choice and shouldn’t be good enough to be second choice if we were a competent club.

Yeah none of it really makes sense to me at the moment. Nisbet seems like a younger Charlie Wyke, so all I can think is we are still getting another striker in addition to Nisbet(assuming we get him).

never understood this statement/argument….so you want a striker who does more but doesn’t score goals??:43:

    It’s not difficult to understand.

Strikers who do nothing but score goals usually don’t operate at a high level. Football has moved on from having poachers who do nothing outside the box.

Eddy and Dembele are the prime examples. They get goals, but they have much more to their game than that. That’s the type or striker we need.

It clearly is for you then because we got lucky with dembele on a free transfer and paid £9 million for eddy so whilst I agree that’s what we need, the reality is we won’t get that unless we spend that kind of money (doubt it) or we unearth another gem like dembele!!
The harsh reality is that We are a club who needs to buy players who can be developed to add to their game as the finished article is more often than not out with our grasp! A striker who does nothing but scores goals is a good start though and should never be sneered at.

I’m not expecting another striker as good as Dembele or Eddy. The point is that we need someone in that mould. Someone who can offer something in and out of the box.

A striker who does nothing but score is fine, as long as they are about 3rd choice. Spending £4m on that type of player is excessive. Particularly given he’s played one season in the top flight and he’s already 24.

Plus, 14 league goals in 33 games. It’s hardly even that impressive.
