    Can only assume big Ange has grilled him and came to the conclusion that he's worth taking a punt on. Which imo is exactly right.

    The talent is there but the work rate has to be through the roof for him to hit the right standard. The gaffer obviously is confident he can get the best out of him.

    I really hope the boy rams it down the throats of those who have made a point of abusing him, from opposition fans and fans of his own club alike.

    Last chance saloon wee man, let's get cracking.

    Celtic Football Club is pleased to announce it has agreed a one-year contract extension with striker Leigh Griffiths.

    Leigh joined the Club in January 2014, and had made 261 appearances for Celtic, scoring 123 goals. He is one of only 29 players to have scored over 100 goals for the club.

    Leigh said: "I am delighted to extend my time at the Club. Celtic is a club I love and want to do all I can to play my part again in bringing success to our supporters.

    "I'm looking forward to the season ahead and working with the new gaffer and the rest of the lads. It is an exciting time for the Club and I wanted to be part of the Club’s future. I'll be doing everything I can to help us get back to where we all want to be."

    Celtic Manager Ange Postecoglou added: “I am really pleased to keep Leigh with us for another season at least. I have had very positive conversations with Leigh and he clearly understands my expectations and more importantly the club’s.

    “Leigh has already proven himself as one of the top strikers in Scotland and I look forward to working with him so that we can bring success to Celtic Football Club."

    If I’m not mistaken but Griffiths coming back last season from a few months off,eating kebabs and chippys and not keeping fit was the catalyst to our most disastrous season ever.Giving Ralston and now Griff new contracts is a bad start to this season now.They better pull some * gems in new signings soon the *.

    Ange has obviously spoken to him. Which means I’m absolutely fine with it.

    Let’s not forget that Neil Lennon’s man management last season was nothing short of atrocious. Talking about match fitness without giving him games when we needed strikers.

    He’s a back up, nothing more and nothing less. But he’s still got a lot to prove to himself, the new manager and the fans.

    I want him to succeed as much as I want Ange to, just to * Lennon off. * still talking about him.

    If Ange thinks he can work with him then fine, still think he should have had more game time last season but lennon was just too stubborn/arrogant, when he got chances he scored.

    I think this is the obvious decision by the club. It's got to be worth the risk and hopefully with a new manager and a bit of motivation Griffith can get in amongst the goals and contribute to a great season for us.

    Someone at the club should be * stepping in. Obviously Griffiths is going to swear blind to Ange that he won’t miss training, apply himself and have a good attitude. He’s looking at massive wage cut if we let him go.

    The fact the club hasn’t learnt anything is alarming. He has abused their trust time and time again. That in itself is alarming.

    Imagine being prepared to sit back and watch it happen, yet again.

    I feel like we have been saying he has a lot to prove to himself for about 4 years.

    Aside from his lack of professionalism, I really just think he's not as good as many seem to believe. Aside from his 40 goal season 6 years ago, he's not really performed consistently for celtic at all, people seem to forget this.

    Regardless of if he is back up or not, I think giving him a new deal sets a * example.
