Deal should be easy enough to complete. The close links we have with the city group, the fact he's just finished a 2 year loan and is looking for a step up. Should get this done quickly. Get him in pronto.

Watching that highlight reel reminds me of a young Nakamura. Hope we can get this done.

He literally couldn't be any different from Nakamura, other than being Japanese. :giggle1::giggle1::giggle1:

Oooh sorry, the answer we were looking for was, “If he’s half as good as his da we’re on to a winner”.

    Better luck next time!

Celtic target Ko Itakura has admitted it is his dream to play for a world famous club that will help him raise his profile.

Manchester City’s Japanese international is amongst a number of centre-half loans that Ange Postecoglou is keen on, as is Tottenham Hotspur’s American central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Both deals have been sounded out as what it would take financially, although City are looking for a hefty loan fee for Ikatura.

Celtic are amongst a number of top European clubs who are keen to take him after his recent loan success at Groningen

Ikatura, who is currently at the Olympics, speaking to Word Groter, said: "It (the Olympics) is something you only experience once in a lifetime, and in Tokyo as well. Everyone is very excited.

Groningen is the place where I was able to put myself on the map, where I learned to communicate in a foreign language

"Everything here I did for the first time, and at the next club it will no longer be the first time. I have grown as a person and as a footballer

My dream is that one day I will play for a world famous club so that everyone knows who Ko Itakura is.

"But I think that after my career I will always want to come back to FC Groningen. That says it all

He looks v classy. Would be up for him coming in, but would ideally like a loan to buy.

Not really a fan of a hefty fee for a loan deal, especially with no option to buy.

Man U aswell can mind Jose moaning about City and Psg ruining the transfer market when they paid near 90m for Pogba and 70m for Lukaku at the time

Why would city want to loan him when his contract expires next summer? surely better just buying him than paying a loan fee

or we could go the celtic route, wait to sign him on a pre contract and miss out on him

Standard big club ploy... Loan out with a promise that this is their development and best option is 2 or 3 year renewal so they can break through next year with experience... Most kids buy into it, and they get their colts developed for free with more cash generated, while loaning clubs pay most of their wages, and they make profit off other teams. It's a good money spinner and a sizable part of how these clubs get around the FFP rules, as it's invisible earnings to sell players that almost never actually physically work with.

Talk to the player and his agent and promise first team action for the duration of the contract. No loans, no instability, but pure progress on the pitch.
