Absolutely - it'll be tough enough for Ange but he must be allowed to fail or succeed on his own merits. Strachan hasn't been involved at club management level for over 10 years at Boro (which was a disaster).

I wonder if this was discussed or even mentioned to Ange (somehow I doubt it). As we all know, Strachan's a really prickly character - I doubt he's ever met Ange so I can't see that ending well.

Strachan will obviously be looking out for his boy which is a clear conflict of interest.

This would be a ridiculous appointment and IMO not giving Ange a fair go from day one.

I really hope this is just another load of BS from the Daily Ranger.

Ange will have zero say in this but like you say if he plays along he's *. If he's anything like our Ozzie friends have been telling us and doesn't take any nonsense from upper management he will be gone fairly sharpish at this club. As I said one step forward ten steps backwards, the Celtic Way...

Aside from what's already been said about Strachan, his playing style is the complete antithesis to Ange's billed gung-ho style.

The whole point of a DOF is to have a lasting, vision for the club going forward and usually the head coach would be a firm believer in that same vision.

Also if Ange doesn't fancy laptop as a coach, you can imagine senior's response when he tells him. What a mess we're in.

Any lingering optimism I have for next season will be wiped out in one fell swoop if they give the DOF job to Strachan.

It very much seems like an appointment for the sake of it, rather than the club having any long term vision.

A * chimp could do a better job than the board have this summer.

The only way this could possibly work is if Strachan is solely in place to be a Scottish football sounding board and point of reference for Ange.

If he has any say at all in what Ange wants to do with team or strategy then it will quickly get ugly.

In any case, unbelievably stupid call by the board if only because of the obvious conflict of interest Strachan will have if and when Ange starts to shunt his son aside.

Only hope is he's on a long list of people we've approached and the talk is premature, reading the papers and nothing seems finalised which is a good sign.

Realistically, if we're struggling to find a DOF don't settle for Strachan, simply shelve it until we find one that's suitable, I sort of understood that we couldn't exactly do that for the manager for much longer (even that that, I think we could have afforded ourselves another 2 weeks after Howe fell through to properly look) but as important as DOF is, if we're really down to WGS as an option then simply halt it.

If there is any truth to it then it just goes to confirm what most of us suspect Ange will do what he's told a cheap yes man who is thankful for the opportunity

I hadn't thought of that but no doubt the board has.

In fairness the manager should have no say in who gets the DOF job, guys getting to pick their own boss is generally a bad idea for businesses. In saying that, it would be going some to think we could think of a worse, more uninspiring choice than WGS.

Feels much better now. I have been quite concerned regarding the scale of the rebuilding job of the squad, but now that Strachan Sr is in the door, what could possibly go wrong?

Hopefully his first job is to hire a couple of guys recommended by Ange, as the new guys in the dugout. Oh wait.

What a * of a club we are. Since Rodgers * off, quite rightly it seems now, we have regressed about 20 years into the past.

As usual if it is true and there is a job for Strachan junior then having 2 family members in the senior management team won’t work especially when things are not going well .
