Liam Shaw says he has settled into life in Glasgow after his first couple of weeks training with Celtic and is now excited to experience playing in the Hoops at Paradise.

The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder signed a four-year deal with Celtic this summer, and he began training with his new teammates at Lennoxtown when they returned for pre-season earlier this month.

“It’s been good so far,” said the 20-year-old, speaking to the official Celtic website. “I’ve been here for a few weeks and I’m enjoying training. I feel settled in where I’m living now so it’s been good.

“I’ve been talking to Scott Robertson and Luca Connell a lot. I’ve known Luca from playing back in England. Everyone’s been sound, to be honest. Those two have been really good with me and made me feel very welcome.

“Lennoxtown is really good. There are a lot of quality pitches and everything’s been spot-on. I’m quite blown away by how nice it all is. Inside there’s a lot of great equipment to use so we have everything we could possibly need to help us.

'The training’s been tough, especially the first week with all the running. It’s good, though. That’s all in the tank now.'

"You get your fitness up and get sharper. I’ve enjoyed the tempo of it and the standard’s been really high in training so I’m feeling ready to go.”

The midfielder could play his first game for Celtic against his former club when Ange Postecoglou’s side take on Sheffield Wednesday next week (Wednesday, July 7). However, Shaw said his most anticipated moment of the season ahead was the possibility of playing in front of the Celtic fans at Paradise.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Celtic fans,” he said. “That’s what I’m looking forward to most. I’ve heard all about the atmosphere at Celtic Park and hopefully, I’ll score a goal and hear that crowd. Playing in that atmosphere will be something I’ll remember forever.

“Walking out and hearing the roar of the crowd will give you a massive adrenaline boost. It gives you so much more energy, maybe nervous energy, but good nervous energy.”

Looks like we've got a bit of a gem here..

Even had very quick feet under pressure but is a big, powerful boy who can play a bit..

    Encouraging..

Him and Connell should be playing a part this season. Given that, I would only look at signing a couple of additional central players. A more experienced sitter and then a number 10.

I like how serious he took that game tae. He was determined to win. Should have had a penalty too.

There was a point were he was tackled and it was like a tree being felled.

Thought he took a bit of responsibility after the first 15 minutes and worked really well with those around him, especially Soro

Couldn’t agree more than this, I thought once we settled Shaw and Soro rotated very well taking turns to drive forward and sit respectively. It would be good to have a physical presence in midfield again and someone to help out at set plays.
