Where's he isolating? He's still in Japan I'm sure. Still has 10 days to do once he arrives.

Nonsense.....far to cheap. Probably closer to 1k month and a pound per sheet of bog roll.

Haven't seem that anywhere, but hope it's true. Quicker he can get on to the training pitch the better.

Griffiths told Sky Sports: “I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive. We’ll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he’s out of isolation and we’ll take it from there

    This is exactly it.

Anyone who pretends that Ange is the best we can get is seriously needing to re-evaluate what Celtic is.
But aside from the fact he is a cheap option, that he is a massive risk in various ways, he does come across as a well spoken, knowledgeable of the game sort of guy. Much like Deila did before him.

I am not against Ange, not at all (although clearly not my first, second, or twentieth choice), but the guy needs proper support and a proper setup in place. He will not get that from this board at all. We have all been here and seen how this unfolds.

Ange WILL be a success if we put in foundations of a football department that is befitting of a club of our size. I said months ago, if we had the right setup in place (DoF, a squad of analysts, a squad of specialised coaches, a squad of physios, an entire recuitment and scouting department that is full to the rafters of staff) then any half competent coach could make a success out of Celtic - a PE teacher could, just by simply allowing the rest of a football department to do their tasks and the coach does the part he is tasked with.

Our issue, Ange's issue, is that we don't have any of that.

He has came in to this club without a DoF even though we are in desperate need of one in some variety. He comes in where the main staff is McManus, Strachan and Kennedy. He comes in on his own (at present) with no signs at all of his own backroom staff coming in. He is coming in with a threadbare recruitment team, he is coming in where PL (at least) is still calling the shots and having players handed to him based on loyalty or some misplaced assumption of "unearthing a gem".

The fact he is accepting all of the flaws that this club have, with very little to no evidence of change, tells us he is either a Yes Man to nod along to all this, or he's been lied to massively.

I'll believe it when I see it that this club manages to modernise it self, but we * up the fundamental task in appointing a DoF (the ONE guy who would be in charge of everything above) before we appointed a * manager.

At this point the club have zero need to do any modernisation, because they have their man, they have our (your) money.

Supporting Ange would be us demanding that all of the above happens - but it didn't happen and isn't happening at all.

So yeah, going by all the experience we have of this board and what they look for - he's coming across with the early signs that he is a yes man.

I hope to * I am wrong, but we all know what happens next if I am wrong. Ange would get * off at the club, the club will get * off at him, and there is only one "winner" out of that argument.

Btw don't think I'm a fan of Kennedy. I'll be just as glad to see the back of the dour * as anybody else. All I'm saying is if Ange keeps him around short term for a transitional period it doesn't make him a yes man and it would be premature and counter-productive to be getting on his back too quickly if he does that.
Also, I liked Sviatchenko - he had some ability and a lot of character. We'll need 5 CBs and at the moment we have 2 (if Ajer goes) - one a young boy who may or may not make it and Julien whose injured. Having Sviatchenko as one of the 5 would be fine with me. I don't remember him taking any stick when he was here. I was surprised when he left actually.

You understand what isolation and quarantine mean?

I suspect, judging by how he talks, he will most certainly be doing everything he can from afar.

No chance a guy like Ange is sitting in a hotel room watching Netflix and pulling his plonker.
He will be all over last seasons games, demanding videos of every inch of training and match we took part in. He clearly is talking to the players and I imagine he will have touched base with every single one of them.

@Dip 'n' Swerve mentioned in another thread that Griff and Dembele are already in training now, going by the fact Griff has said he has spoke with him and looking forward to face to face chat, I suspect even Dembele has been called by Ange and both have likely taken some positive feedback/advice and are knuckling down.

These are very good signs that the guy is clearly not going to be waiting around.

His issues are going to be bigger than that though, once he does get to grips with the squad and identifies what he needs/doesn't need, it's the board that he is going to have to deal with in getting what he wants.

And again, that is where it comes in that he already looks like a potential yes man, because so far he seems to be accepting the backroom staff and these player suggestions - which we can only hope is paper talk, but too often we all know the type of stories that get leaked by the club, and the Erik one certainly feels like a leak.

    Why?

The guy is right, * have been working from home for over a year, so why can’t the new boss take charge over certain aspects on zoom meetings or whatever platform?

    Eh?

I hardly think anycunt’s suggesting he’s stood as a monitor on the touchline on the training pitch, but players dont run out of team meetings or tactical briefings do they?

So nothing to stop Ange having talks with the team players over virtual media, then Kennedy when he reports back to him on training matters…

Right well there ye are then, so the manager can still manage from isolation, in the same way that fucknugget Lennon was supposed to be doing last season when he was stuck in the house for 2 games or so…
