Is their any truth that clubs do their own testing and pull players out on fabricated injury so they dont get tested by the authorities ? Just don’t know how a guy that gets put through training through out a season can’t get fit or have a recurring calf injury and not get specialist treatment

Leigh Griffiths this week held "positive" talks on his future with new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The striker's Parkhead future hangs in the balance as the club ponder whether to activate a 12-month extension option in his contract and he could yet leave on a free this summer.

Celtic haven't enjoyed the best of the Scotland international for some time and he failed to complete a full 90 minutes for his club last term.

Footage of Griffiths undertaking extra training ahead of Postecoglou's arrival circulated online this week and he's since had a phone call from the manager

The 30-year-old appeared buoyed by the pair's conversation and expects face-to-face discussions with Neil Lennon's successor after his 10 day isolation period ends.

Griffiths told Sky Sports: “I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive. We’ll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he’s out of isolation and we’ll take it from there

It was a massive thing for him just to give me a phone. He didn’t have to but he took time out his day and gave me his ideas and his plans moving forward.

"So it was a positive chat, we just need to wait until he’s out of isolation, we’ll have a chat face-to-face and we’ll see where we’re at.

Every level I’ve played at, I’ve scored.

"There’s still a lot to come from me, I’m only 30-years-old and I’ve still got a lot of years left.”

I know a lot will disagree bit if you gave griffiths the same chances edouard had last year and the same game time then griff would easily finish a season with more goals than eddie ! Eddie tries to be too fancy and does miss a fair anount a chances ! Eddies all round game is better but griff for me is still best finisher at the club !

The only way I’d be happy for Griffiths to stay is if we see over preseason he’s clearly pulled the finger out.

On his day he’s possibly the best finisher in the league, at least good for 20+ goals a season if he’s fit. And that’s the biggest problem, his fitness and mental health.

He sorts himself out and keeps in shape he could be a key player.

Griffiths didn't bother his * getting fit for our chance at ten in a row ,why the * would we even be entertaining the idea of keeping him on

What annoyed me most last season was the early season carry on by him and Lennon.

Lennon leaves him out because he is overweight/unfit when they go to France.
A week later Lennon claims he is in great shape - a weeks worth of training suggests he wasnt THAT bad then.

But he then goes on to leave him sitting in the stands/bench all season and we see Griff become sluggish when he gets on etc.

If there is anything to know about Griff, it is that he needs to play for 2 reasons - 1. it keeps him fit. 2. he is the sort of player that needs the run to show what he is worth.

Mismanaged like many last season, here hoping he proves to Ange quickly that he is better than that, then Ange can repay that.

Griff as a 3rd choice striker is very good for us.

Agree with this but griff has burnt his bridges, couldn’t get fit when we needed him most and is another who is responsible for that * of a season because of it

Basically due to the fact we are a bigger state than texas thats why !!
Totally agree that last seasons antics were a disgrace but the mess the clubs is in we cant afford imo to get rid of someone who despite his faults can still do the business , its sad but thats where the club is at !!

If he needs to play to keep himself fit then he’s going to be useless as 3rd choice striker surely?

If we can get a good 10/15 games off him at the start of the season it’ll be worth it I think. We need to get off too a quick start, he’s a quick (and * dirty) way to do it.
