The Recruitment Question

No I never said that was what I wanted I said this is what I think will happen.

 

I think our recruitment strategy will mostly be emails from trusted agents.

Dom McKay’s assistant will compile the players in those emails into lists by position then they’ll get a ‘scout’ to take a look at the list and shorten it. Then we’ll try and get some bargains out that list. Maybe let Ange pick from the approved list.

Alongside that I’m sure if Ange has a player or two he wants he’ll be allowed to bring them in.

I can’t imagine we have any proper network or scouting going on.

 

Is there anybody actually employed by the club to recruit players ?

 

It definitely feels that way at present. The first new Ange signing will likely prove this, or not.

 

It's beginning to look like there's * all in place if we are bringing back old players who were not deemed good enough a few years back .
To me the club is going back at a alarming rate and it will be hello 1990s again with this board .
The first two or three signings will tell if the board are backing the Manager .

Agree here, if there was a type of CB I didn’t think we needed Erik would have been it. Fairly short, slow and was ok at best with the ball.

I also don’t know how anyone can look at Midtjylland and think he is one of the players from their team you should sign.

 

Would have bit your hand off for Erik last year. Lustig and Hayes aswell tbh.

 

Just posted this in Euro 2020 thread, so I’ll post it again as it makes a lot of sense to me ....

I like that Joel Pohjanpalo for Finland. Crackin’ big striker; strong, great movement off the ball, comfy at dribbling and shielding the ball and a decent finisher. He’s on the books at Leverkusen (been out on loan with various clubs over a 7 year period since signing for them back in 2013). We’ll obviously have built up a rapport with Leverkusen & have contacts as a result of the Frimpong sale, so it might be worth trying to get him here for a year or two (we could afford him, as he’s currently on about 17, 000 per week). We’ve also had a Finnish forward here before in Pukki, so it all ties in and makes sense, imo. I think he’d do well here in Scotland.

But that’s because we are comparing them to atrocious signings like Duffy, Kenny, Laxalt and Taylor.

The reality is Lustig was past his best at right back especially going forward or when up against anyone with pace.

Hayes had a pretty poor year at Aberdeen and done a job as an auxiliary left back but not really the required level.

Erik would have been better than Duffy but so would have Ambrose, Guthrie, Gallagher, Jason Kerr etc from other lesser teams in the league it doesn’t mean they are good enough.

 

Is the new manager not got a track record of promoting the young players.

 

Is Ryan on a free?

 

No, got a year to go on his contract and Brighton want £3m-£5m.
