I expect Ange will put a lot of emphasis in using the Youth squad, with significant weight towards those with strong tactical awareness and attitude.

I'll be watching closely to see who he discovers are up to the challenge.

I agree with you regarding 'if they score 3 we will score 4'.That's a Brasilian mantra from the 50s and 60s . Hungary made them think different in the 1966 World Cup. Defence is the corner stone of any team. From there you build your team moving up - midfield - forwards. No team does well if there is no faith in their defenders and keeper.

However it is the type of defenders you want that counts. Uruguayan mindset ? Atletico Madrid mindset ? Leeds Utd mindset under Revie ? What will the manager want ?

Man Utd under Busby with Law, Crerand, Charlton and Best did not have an exceptional defence. However the defenders knew what they had to do and got on with it with no fuss. Get the ball to the mid fielders quickly.

I want Celtic to know their opponents very well. Even learn from them.

Example. In WW2 Monty was very cautious in Western Europe fighting the enemy, whereas Patton was very aggressive with his mechanised units and tanks and thrust deep into Germany and quickly. Why ? Patton had done his homework. He had read Guderian's and Rommel's books on mechanised warfare and used the information accordingly to be a successful general.

I want to see the coming Old Firm derbies and Celtic playing in Europe as a revelation. I want Celtic to have the same impact on football as Di Stefano's Real Madrid had playing Eintracht Frankfurt at Hampden Park. The same effect Puskas' Hungary had playing England at Wembley. The same effect Scotland beating England at Wembley 3-2 in 1966.

In Both World Cup campaigns Postecoglou was involved in at senior level, Brazil and Russia, he was quite clear in his intentions. . He did not simply want to qualify to get to the finals, he was intent on Australia winning the World Cup!

Some establishment figures were not very happy with him talking like that, especially from a coach that had a name they had trouble pronouncing. If he was a Smith , a Brown , an Anderson or a Sinclair they would have been more happy. The name Postecoglou was too grating for their mindset.

These people are now eating their words and wiping egg off their faces.

Yes, Celtic is going through a process of transition and renewal that all clubs face if changes have not been made at the right time.If new blood has not been brought in and nurtured while the older players have reached their peak and are in their decline, then issues arise with the type of results the club is achieving. All great clubs have faced this in the past and most have come back strong with good guidance and progressive vision.

Postecoglou has the credentials and the experience to do this at Celtic FC.

Indeed. Unless one has the transfer funds of ManShitty, there will always be teams stronger than you, which can punish an overly adventurous style. Even teams with a lower budget can ruin you if your defense is lackluster. And ours will be.

Added reason to judge Postecoglou - something was likened to WW2 and his name was the sole reasons no one wanted Australia to win a world cup.

Still, don't judge him on his results though.

This guy speaks very well. I love the motivational stuff he comes out with but it sounds believable. Actually really liking him now. Hopefully it translates here. Can see us absolutely steam rolling the spl tbh. Finally see players with passion and urgency and flair and feelings. What a difference next season will be not having a dour moaning arm crossed, blame giving fool in the dugout.

He's 55, he's so brilliant a manager that he's never led a team in Europe. The bigging up that's going on is understandable, we all want him to do well.

Yes, he talks well. Soon it's about walking the walk.

You don't come across as wanting him to do well.

For those who keep saying Ange is inflexible in his style...

Well, yes he is...until he changes. Which he has done once or twice. I'm predicting he'll be way less predictable in the Celtic role as he copes with the numerous challenges - which will come in phases. Starting with building a team.

The one thing likely to really impress the fans - if he gets the time - Ange is really smart. He's always thinking steps ahead of the opposition, whether that be the huns, or the existing backroom, or the board, or the media, or the fans, or * Barcelona...

    Ange is smart.

He's joining the club in a period of downsizing. The amount of rebuilding required is massive. The club needs to back him, which is yet to be seen.

I really wanted Lennon to be a success when he got the job the second time around, even though I suspected it would end in tears. I want Ange to be the manager we need in this period in time, but I'm not convinced yet.

There’s a few like that Marie, making this place unbearable. Think I’ll stick to the other sports threads.

Yeah he is but surely you want him to succeed? Surely you want him to turn our fortunes around and get the best out of players?

I can totally understand that most fans didn't want him but now we have him, we should all be behind him and want him to do well.
