Very enlightening. Some of the human atrocities committed in the name of the USSR were absolutely appalling…

No question about it. Not to diminish what Hitler and the *'s did but what Stalin and the Soviets did was at least just as evil.

Reading Guns, Germs and Steel. A book that’s got great reviews but I’m finding it incredibly boring so far. Sapiens is much better for the same kind of book.

I got about half way through Guns, Germs and Steel.

Some interesting info but as action packed as watching grass grow. I think you get the main thrust in the first 20pp and then it's just more of the same for another 400pp.

Re-reading some Irvine Welsh at the moment - finding * funnier than I remembered it.

Anybody read Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now”?

Quite profound reading I have to say. I can already see an altered perception of life in myself and I only started it yesterday.

Actually took the Alcatraz tour a few years ago when I was in San Francisco with my wife. Was interesting.

Finished Catherine Ryan Howard's debut novel Distress Signal's. Really enjoyed it and thought she did a great job of building the story and throwing in some good twists in this crime thriller.

All in favour of @eire4 creating his own book review podcast say Aye.

Wish I had the time and patience to read as much as I used to man, battered through quite a few in my early 20's.

Love how invested you are in reading Eire, hope you enjoy it for many years to come :50:

Haha that's a good thought Double Dutch. I do love to read no doubt about it. Reading is how I switch off and relax and my work affords me a opportunities to embrace that and where its just what I need:celt_smil

Really enjoying this so far - basically the modern history of European football, starting with Cruyff and the Dutch 'total football'. Serie A in the 90s however was just something else.
