Agree and would love to see us sign him permanently. But doubt it will happen. Even if Southampton are willing to sell him on the cheap for 5m he would then have to take a massive cut in wages to make a deal happen and that is I would assume what will kill any chance of a deal happening.

Little odd to see the Celtic Insta have Moi as one of the team on international duty. Would have expected his loan to have ended. Anything in that?

I like MOI but too expensive for what he brings. I think with Celtics budget he'd be a bad investment.

I get what your saying and unless he is willing to take a significant wage cut I do not see a permanent deal been done. Having said all that if a way was found to make his wages work and the transfer fee was in the 5m range I would be happy to see us sign him.

There's no way we'll sign him for me..

Maybe if our team was flooded with pace but we're slow as * and need to spend plenty to bring it in, then 5 mill on top for Mo? No chance..

he isn't a big game player, misses too many chances, doesn't like to track back and do the dirty work.
when he turn up he is a good player but for 40-60 percent of the season he doesn't do enough for me.
missed a few guilt edge chances over the years in important games.
better player out there who play with a natural position and give more width and better threat from whipped in balls - which is part of our overall problem trying to fudge players into a packed midfield team with a rank formation.

id take Armstrong back over signing him

Nice message, really like him but was very inconsistent. Top player one weekend then missing the next. Looked brilliant when he first arrived before the injury. A player I would take back but going by that message it’s not happening. Something we probably looked at but £5m+ Is to much of a gamble, sure someone out there will give that for him though.

Was a very good player for us and played a big part in some big wins. Wish him all the best.

I like him and wanted him here for years before he actually signed.

I still think in a fully firing celtic side he is a different animal...17 goals last season despite not starting every game and often being in and out.

For £4-5m we will struggle to find better IMO. People are forgetting what we have wasted that sort of money on.

I don't think £5m would be a gamble at all.

Not as much of a gamble as spending it on a replacement.

5m for someone who turns up in Europe is a bargain, just depends on wether he fits ange’s style.

That's not the issue. It was a farewell message he wrote, not a 'come and get me', so think that has pretty much put a pretty definite underline that his time here is done.

Still think you're missing the point. I really doubt it has anything to do with us at all - and is not in Celtic's or the player's control at this stage. He is contracted to Southampton at the end of the day, and they decided that they either want to have him with them for preseason or have other plans for the player that clearly don't include Celtic.

Southampton shelled out £16m for him 3 years ago, and after 1 underwhelming season down there and 2 full loan seasons with us would probably want to see how much he has improved/developed to see what value is left before deciding the player's long term fate in the next 12 months or so, by with time there will be only the 1 year left on his contract.

So it makes sense they want to see him up close and give him a shot before deciding either to offer a contract extension or look to move him on either in January or next summer accordingly.

Agreed and not unreasonable from Southampton at all if that as is quite likely is what is happening.

I am in the same boat with you Mr Shelby. I have been an admirer of his from prior to his coming to us the past 2 years. For me he is exactly the type of player we should be going after given where we are financially currently. Would love it if after pre-season begins at Southampton they decide he is not for them and want to cut their losses and sell him to us for 5-6m. Even if that scenario did come to pass I highly doubt we could afford his wages unless he was willing to pay a substantial pay cut. So not expecting to see him in a Celtic jersey next season as much as I would like that to happen.
