If that's true it goes one of two ways for me we either go for an utter dross appointment who would come in knowing they're 3rd possibly 4th choice depending how much water the Maresca rumours hold. I don't even think guys like Keane's ego would allow him to be 3rd/4th choice or Desmond is * off big time by this shambles and comes in and throws money at it

Yep, been calling it for a while, quite clear the deal isn't as close as people have been making out.

To be honest, I think it's going to be Maloney.

 

Maloney is a much much bigger gamble, I think Maloney will come in but not as manager.. Not sure what capacity but and might depend on Martinez next move..

Again who knows mate, anything this board does would not surprise me..

Imo if this deal with Ange falls through I think either appoint Maloney or go back to the drawing board.

I'd prefer the latter, give an extra week to scout a proper target, perhaps Favre if he's genuinely interested, and bring Maloney in as a coach, sack Strachan and Demote Kennedy to scouts (They won't get rid of Kennedy no matter what)

 

I have nothing against Ange but he's up against it from day one.

It seems likely that, due to UEFA licences etc, he may have Kennedy and possibly Strachan in his team. That alone is a big problem for Celtic fans.

Having spent his career in Aus/Japan - he simply will not have knowledge of the Scottish/English/European leagues where Celtic do 99% of their transfer business.

Judging by his record - he takes a year to implement his methods. I think I'm correct in saying that he has never won the league in his first season at any club (Brisbane, Melbourne Victory, Yokohama). I believe that he actually said when he went to Brisbane to judge him in a year.

After the season we have just endured - I'm not sure that fans are in a patient/forgiving state of mind - especially as a lot of them don't want Ange in the first place. I don't expect Ange to turn Celtic into world beaters overnight but - if things are bad at Christmas - he'll certainly find out all about pressure.

The media love to bait Celtic managers and it sounds as if Ange will certainly take the bait.

I honestly think that Celtic will be out of Europe early and the Huns will win the league. To be fair to Ange - this is mostly the boards fault - bringing him in so late when the squad is in a real mess is not his fault.

It's a poison chalice and I think expectations have to be realistic. However, at the very least, we need to be seeing progress throughout the season and optimism for the team going forward.

If the performances are poor in September (as I expect) and they are no better in March (like last season) then I would expect many fans to be calling for a change.

Ange would not be my choice but I'll get behind him but IMO he needs to convince fans that we are moving in the right direction by the end of the year at the latest.

 

Great Post.. Yeah as you have outlined a massive obstacle will be his knowledge of players that will need to be brought in in our region.. Going by what Australians have said (see that video above) he is going to need a massive amount of new faces to implement his style.. probably about 4 or 5 players in our squad capable of the football Ange likes to play.

Also his backroom staff, I fear if he doesn't get his own team in he is on a hiding to nothing..

I'm actually kind of intrigued to see how it works out now., but unfortunately for him we are already long second favourites for the league which is no fault of his..

 

That guy talking up Postecoglou by slagging off Eddie Howe has same energy as someone slagging off folk who buy Audis on PCP because he thinks his 2nd hand 62 plate Skoda is a better drive.

 

ya gotta love his enthusiasm if nothing else.. I'd say he'd make a good car salesman, I'd buy a 2nd hand 62 plate skoda off him..

Don't post much in Celtic chat because of all the * and arguing, but has this * even signed yet!!

 

If Kennedy and laptop is here nothing will change. Might as well just keep Kennedy as manager.

 

His team are playing the team top of the table tomorrow morning 11am, worth a watch
