No I actually got that. Marseille, Bilboa etc aren't wee teams btw and my point still stands. He went close with Marseille...and what?... Lille actually won the league this season, he managed them and lasted 14 games and was getting his * handed to him, see the difference? Bilboa has a 53,000 seater stadium Sevilla, Villarreal have all won European trophies, he missed out, see the difference?

Newell's was over 20 years ago and his last piece of silverware as well & I acknowledged that in my original comment to you.

His team's burn out quickly and his coaching gets repetitive and tiresome from what I've read. He likes to treat his players like machines and prob part of the reasons he's avoided big jobs is bcos he wants to deal with smaller personalities that he can easily control. Nothing to do with projects and challenges for me, more about control.

No doubt he plays attractive football tho. Anyway less talk about Bielsa and more about the actual candidate and what he brings. His experience is a drop in the ocean compared to the pressures he will encounter as Celtic manager, also it's lazy recruitment and seems to be another recommendation from a pal rather than an actual thorough process. That fact has turned a lot of people off this guy immediately.

I would rather have someone else but if it's this guy I'll back him and by the sounds of it things will at least be eventful if nothing else and no doubt we'll get the pleasure of more Aussies on here with their definitely not grating and definitely not arrogant characters.

Agreed. All short sighted, amateurish, and cheap. That's us. Now a days, the off the field team is just as important as the players. Arguably, our biggest outlay this season should have been off the pitch at Lennoxtown and behind the scenes. A big investment there for the future could have done done club wonders for decades beyond and for the bank balance.

 

Too many people now trying to put a positive spin on things when, in reality, we have totally fecked up big time.

Not thinking about any posters in particular in all honesty, but the general feeling I get from Australians involved in football is a * high opinion of themselves and not much to show for it in recent years.

 

I sort of hate myself here but I’ve watched a few highlights of his current team Yokohama F. Mariners and did a bit more research and I can see the Bielsa style that people mean and I like it. It’s a style of football I love.

I am open to him being the next manager and actually a little excited. My only hope would be he is allowed to get his own staff and given a decent budget to work with. Not a complete downsize.

About the whole license thing, I couldn’t care about that because he isn’t not qualified, just not got the right qualifications for Europe which is fine, he can take them in Europe whilst he’s here and just needs a staff member that has them (please not John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan they should be sacked, any other industry or club and they’re gone).

See this talk of he models himself on Bielsa I can't think of any other manager outwith Allardyce and Pulis who wouldn't say something similar. I model my fives games on Lubo doesn't mean I'm anywhere near that level

 

I still don't think Lawwell, Desmond and the rest of the board got this. They seem to be as much dinosaurs as Lennon is. Think a new ownership is needed to fix this. Until then the best we can hope for is once in 10 years a Rodgers and between some jobs for the boys.

 

Only way to save this is 11 new Nakamura's in the door.
