I can not help but think. What a waste of the last few years.

The guy should be in Celtic folklore. Losing the Scotland call up. He's the man that's lost it all. There's very little chance of coming back from this.

The Celtic striker - who still doesn’t know if he has a Parkhead future - didn’t make the 26-man squad for this summer’s finals.


But he insists he didn’t give Scotland gaffer Clarke much choice





He told Go Radio: “It’s always disappointing but I don’t think I did enough to deserve my place in the squad.

"There are other guys that have been in there and playing really well all season.

It was disappointing not seeing your name there but the guys deserve it fully and hopefully they can go and do well.

“I haven’t played enough football this season, so I don’t think my place would have been merited.

“Lyndon Dykes and Kevin Nisbet have been playing well and scoring goals so I can’t really complain. I have to take it on the chin.”


The Celtic frontman remains a clinical finisher on his day but has struggled with fitness this season.

And he said he's targeting a return to full match sharpness ahead of the next campaign - regardless of where he's playing.

He said: "The focus for me over the summer is to get as fit as I can, ready to go for pre-season, wherever that is and hit the ground running.

"It's a major disappointment not being involved with Scotland but ultimately that's down to me not being selected in games for Celtic."


Griffiths admitted his future at Celtic is still up in the air as he anxiously waits on word on a new manager which will hopefully give him some clarity.

I don’t think he will be just because the sheer numbers we’re going to need through the door.

 

Aye that's my concern regarding him too. Just feel that he's proven to be far too unreliable despite the almost unconditional support he's received from the club.

 

Agreed and I’d want shot of him because of that. Also can’t help but think, we need a * striker and another year won’t do any damage to us even if he’s getting relied on in the early stages of the season.

 

Got a feeling the penny has maybe dropped for him now. Can see him starting next season with a point to prove and start banging them in again. I'd be all for that scenario.

 

I think the penny does drop with him and he knuckles down, but for whatever reason the wheels fall off again. Guy should be kicking 200 goals for the club up the *. Bags of ability but flawed.
