I've got a warm moist tea towel on my gonads just thinking about it.

Ach mate, I just think he has a pan handler quality about him and is comfortable rolling about on the back of a nondescript nonchalant challenge...suppose that's the way of the world now.

I dont see him as skipper either mate. Youre calling him out as a big softy though. I used duffy as an example of a big no nonsense clear the ball cb who has turned out to be useless. In fairness jullien has had a few nightmares against a couple of big daftys in the league but has been solid enough overall. If he can get fit asap it can only be a good thong.

He made me wet the cup final anaw :fear:

He struggles against guys as strong and fast as him, no doubt but he’s much better than he gets credit for.

He is a big softy mate, he even has us talking about thongs!

You have to admit he does roll about at the slightest touch man. I really like the lad, I do the Superman thing all the time when he scores....but I just don't like baby roll about hurt stuff...leaders don't do that.

Honestly I fully believe us not having fans in the stadium this year makes people forget the stuff you don’t see on TV.

He’s constantly communicating to those around him.

Even the wee snippets you see on the insta stories etc, you can tell he's one of the leaders in the squad.

Puyol is an ultimate leader on a football pitch and was horrendous for it mate, it’s just no a Scottish thing.

One of the things I’ve wondered about that, neither Forrest or McGregor are active on social media and both get overlooked leadership wise.

Communication is great but the words leaders use are irrelevant. Communication is about body language, tone, micro and macro expressions....ripping off a pretend shirt and talking to folk albeit good isn't leadership mate.

I suppose it adds to the 'quiet guy' perception people might have about them, which in real terms has nothing to do with leadership ability. If you go back to before Broony was given captain, plenty had doubts about him too (myself included).

McGregor ripped off a pretend shirt? I think he communicates and leads by example mate. He’s no a mental case but neither were Lambert or Jackie (jabbing Hately aside :56:)

I don’t think I’ve seen us announce a captain that wasn’t doubted Boyd was lucky because no other option, Lambert was doubted as not being a pure Tim, Jackie was too quiet, Lenny was a snub to Stan, Big Mick was too young, Broony was a headless chicken...

They’re only good when we do something with them being on the pitch as captain.

Being vocal isn't leadership either...in the realms of communication if you are looking at the mark of 100%...all mainstream psychology believes that the words used only represent 7% of all communication...the body language makes up 55% with tone of voice and macro expressions making up 38%.

Simply put, leadership is a natural thing that is difficult to train or learn...it's just the DNA, the stuff folk want to follow.
As much as Calmac and big Judge Jules are fab...would you or I follow them into battle?

I probably wouldn't but I would love to have them on my team.

I think what you’re saying there is a reason I back McGregor for captain. When the chips are down he’s one that makes sure he will lead by example. Big game player for us, whether thats been Rangers, Bayern or Zenit.

But this year, I can understand that side not being seen. Because I think he’a tried it but it’s absolutely not worked.
