At midday today while on my local patch with Ruby Roo my nephew and his Lurcher Basil we heard a big wooooooooosh,it was a Male Peregrine. He flew fast right over our heads, the sound was amazing. Then he swung back around and past us:84:
Also a singing Whitethroats were seen and I heard only a Lesser Whitethroat. The local pair of Stonechat were active as was a Great Spotted Woodpecker best whole.

I heard something similiar a few years ago Cider. Caroline and I were at a great birdwatching spot called Aberlady Bay in East Lothian. All of a sudden, hundreds of Lapwings flew directly over our heads. You're right good friend, the sound WAS amazing, and what a sight too. 100's of Lapwings no more that 20/25 ft above us.

Never seen a lapwing John but googled them in flight and they're very acrobatic also listened to their call one of the coolest sounds ever think they would be hard to get a picture of in flight, that must have been amazing for you and Caroline to have them flying over your heads :)

Caroline was, still is , a keen photographer, but there was that many that day Susan, that the photos were just a big black blob.

Thanks Sioux :50:, I'm not sure what breed of bird that is, it's not a Goldfinch, maybe Pete or John can answer.
