There is but you should still be able to save a shot. Bizarre comment.

The keeper needs to know what the back 4 are doing, or the back 3.
We have changed it so much when he first came in, not sure why it's not easy to see why it's hard for a new keeper to struggle to settle when so much is changing in front of him.

I still don't fully agree there. Should still be able to save some of the duff shots he let in. Clean slate for a few guys next year but he's one i'm not too optimistic about. Hopefully he can prove me wrong of course.

I hope people aren't having 2nd thoughts about him since he's had two clean sheets. I could have put my granny in goals for those two games and she would have done the same. No, he's not a good keeper, Greek internationalist or not. We need a big commanding solid * (like Forster was) in goals who can command his box and actually save some shots.

To be fair to the lad, he's only played 22 games, 15 of which in the league.
His early season run he had 5 clean sheets out of 9 league games conceding 6 goals.
He then kept two clean sheets in his last two league games having only played 3 other league games inbetween times - one was a clean sheet against United, then a hun game and then the Livi game after the Dubai nonsense. A Livi team that was flying high at the time and on the back of Dubai of course when everything was majorly sour.

He kept clean sheets in his 2 EL qualifiers
He played against Milan in the opening EL game after the hun game, where the entire squad completely showed how out the depth they was across both games. His only other EL game was randomly the return Milan game.

Apart from an absolutely erratic game time, he also needed to deal with Duffy and Brown being two major issues in the first half of this season.

Taking EL out the equation (Really not gonna judge him on the Milan games when Bain was responsible for worse against Sparta), he only conceded 10 goals in 16 domestic games.
Which I will be sure at least 7 of those are Brown and Duffy fault, 2 was world class screamers and one maybe attributed to Barkas.

He's been given a really hard time of it I reckon and there is definitely more to come from him.

I'm willing to give him a run of games with a coaching system that actually trains, does analysis and actually sets out a team with a purpose and designated roles.

When our previous manager can't even be bothered to analyse opposition or review previous performances, imagine what else he couldn't be * with doing.

Hoping with a professional manager in place and a proper coaching team we will instantly reap benefits from it and see a clear improvement.

I'm as certain as anything that we win the league with Howe in charge, some of it due to the standards he'd set, some of it down to return of fans and some of it clearly being - we will not be as remotely * as we have been this season.

Unfortunately we need to be up and running in time for the Champions League qualifiers. We need to be sure we have the right keeper in goals as it's one of the most important positions in the team. So, do you reckon we should give him another chance, but get another keeper in (just in case Barkas doesn't cut it) and get rid of Bain or what?

I feel you man, the worry would be though, that if we change keepers again, is the new guy going to be up to speed?

I would get rid of Bain and Hazard to be honest, think both have shown (more so Bain) enough now to be considered not good enough to take us forward.
If it is Howe coming in, I wouldn't be surprised to see Begovic come in, free agent and experienced keeper. Alongside Barkas to do as you say above, to give Barkas that extra chance, but have some cover just in case.
Begovic on a 1 year deal would work well. Even a 3 year deal with the knowledge he may very well be sold on after a year - assuming Barkas made the step up.

Totally agree, punt both Bain and Haz, never good enough. Try get FF, if not then Begovic, then make a call. If one is not cutting, then we have a reasonable chance with replacement, not having to turn to Bain or Haz.
To have both Barkas and Begovic would be healthy competition too.
Guess Doohan would be 3rd choice then, no big deal.

I think Barkas will be staying simply due to the fact Howe was interested in signing him when Howe was at Bournemouth...

He’d be best advised in this fantasy world where he’s the manager to keep him 100% on making the salads and get a new man between the sticks

Or, get this, 11 in 22 appearances in all comps this season.
Not that terrible, considering his early season run of around 14 games or so had Duffy and Brown sitting in front of him.
