It's true Leigh Griffiths is Leigh Griffiths biggest enemy but to put Mikey Johnston as a lone forward ahead of him when he has scored a last minute equaliser for us in our previous game is just taking the p**s.

How can folk moan about how he's being treated?

He has tons of natural ability aye, but he's a serial *, with zero professionalism. If he's being treated like pish, then there's reasons for it, dunno why *'s pure flock behind the individuals in these cases and be white knights.

    Time for him to go.

He wasn't even getting regular starts for us when he was deemed match fit.

What do people think we will do with him next season, despite years of now really being a back-up player and injured and other problems his record is weirdly pretty similar through his whole time here, always scores at a good rate when playing and really against any teams except good European teams his record is pretty similar.

47 goals in 56 starts & 41 sub appearances against Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Rangers.

57 goals in 67 starts & 36 sub appearances against Dundee, Hamilton, Inverness, Livingston, Partick Thistle, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren.

4 goals in 5 starts & 0 sub appearances against Dunfermline, East Kilbride, Falkirk, Morton, Stranraer

    In Europe

0 goals in 4 starts & 5 sub appearances against AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, PSG and Man City

2 goals in 6 starts & 3 sub appearances against Ajax, Anderlecht, Borussia Monchengladbach, Fenerbahce, Rennes and Salzburg

9 goals in 12 starts & 14 sub apparances against AEK Athens, Astana, Astra Giurgiu, Cluj, Copenhagen, Dinamo Zagreb, Hapoel Beer Sheva, Legia, Malmo, Maribor, Molde, Rosenborg, Sparta Prague and Qarabag

4 goals in 8 starts and 4 sub appearances against Sarajevo, Suduva, KR Reykjavik, Lincoln Red Imps, Linfield, Nomme Kaljiu and Stjarnan

    Overall

104 goals in 123 starts and 77 sub appearances against Premier League teams
4 goals in 5 starts and 0 sub appearances against lower League teams
15 goals in 30 starts and 26 sub appearances in Europe

    2014-2018 98 goals in 122 starts & 60 sub appearances
    2018-2021 25 goals in 36 starts & 41 sub appearances

    Minutes per goal per season
    13/14 - 137.4
    14/15 - 112.9
    15/16 - 97.1
    16/17 - 114.8
    17/18 - 152.2

Don’t think he has a future with us sadly. I get some of the criticism but in the main he’s been a success with us. It could and probably should have been better, but 100+ goals can’t be dismissed. Don’t think any of us know the full story with his life attitude and mental health so always a bit wary of slaughtering the guy. Some fantastic natural talent.

Still a little bit of a gamble getting rid of a reliable source of goals though I think. Like Aberdeen etc are our bread and butter and he has a really good record against those teams, not much different to Dembele and Edouard and better than Morelos who have been the 3 best strikers in the League the last 5 years or so.

Griffiths vs Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Rangers
    47 goals in 56 starts & 41 sub appearances

Dembele vs Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Rangers
22 goals in 28 starts and 8 sub appearances

Edouard vs Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Rangers
43 goals in 57 starts and 19 sub appearances

Morelos vs Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Celtic.
    35 goals in 67 starts & 12 sub appearances

Even recently from January 2020 to now, so his bad spell of barely playing he has 5 goals in his last 17 games against those teams, 723 minutes of playing or exactly 8 - 90 minute matches. He also has 3 assists so 8 goals and assists in 8 whole games worth of time. So he is still cutting it against teams even though it doesn't feel like it since he barely plays. In that time he's also played 90 minutes of European football split against AC Milan, Sparta Prague and Copenhagen also scoring 1 goal.

I’ve already stated my opinion on him on the Bayo thread.

When Neil Lennon publicly calls you out for lack of professionalism then you know things must be bad.

I'd rather he wasn't around next season.

I've backed him a lot, at times when I probably shouldn't.

    Time for a change.

He has scored 38 goals in 4 seasons: that averages out to a single-figure goal return each season. He is anything but reliable.

What a fantastic servant. I hope he’s appointed club captain, a better candidate than McGregor IMO.

This is exactly where I'm at with him too. He, like the others in the squad, knew the importance of this season. He could have put himself in the best possible position to ensure he was available for our challenge, but he made a complete * of it and not for the first time.

I can't believe there's some that still want Griff to get an extension.

30 min run-outs with the odd winner don't make up for being unavailable for 75% of our games.

The bare minimum for playing with Celtic should be that you are responsible & respectful enough to have yourself fit for when called upon to deliver the goods and earn your £15k+ per week salary.

Thanks for the memories but it's time to go our separate ways.
