Although I like him too, would rather we had a youth player as a squad player if that’s the role he’d take up. Also think it would waste nisbets career coming to us to be a squad player

I'd like him, he'd be more than just a squad player in my opinion. But hibs refused 2 mil from Birmingham in January so he will likely be in the 2.5-3 million mark that their after for him, add celtic tax on top of that he'd not be an amazing value signing but we spent 3.5 for klimala

Really rate Nisbet, and think he will have a good career and possibly become Scotland’s established first choice striker, if he plays his cards right.

However, I agree with other comments that we might waste him (as he probably wouldn’t be first choice for us), and also that we’d have to pay a premium to get him. Better taking the money to the continent and getting someone more ready-made for the level to which we should be aiming.

No harm to the lad though; talented and likeable and will do well - just not with us, I think.

Just looking at guys I’d want:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raphael_Holzhauser

Raphael Holzhauser - goalscoring midfielder, and an absolute brick shithouse. 6’4 attacks the opposition box and defends his own. Plays for Beerschot, got to be within reach.

Set piece specialist with a wand of a left peg.

    Frank Castaneda

Bit on the small side at 5’5 for a striker, but he’s a wee magician. Two footed, great technique and he’s * tenacious.

20 goals in 28 games for FC Sheriff this season

    Florin Tanase

Equally as adept at attacking midfield or upfront, 6’1 goalscorer from behind the striker or leading the line. He oozes class, a bit of a Rogic.

19 goals this season mainly from attacking midfield. Again, even though in the airs not his greatest strength. Having height to defend in our box is no bad thing.

Aye mate. He looks a * cracking player, and a bit more height in the team will never go amiss. 16 goals and 16 assists for him this season, in a team not as good as us, should be somebody we’re all over.

I would happily take him and Boyle from Hibs. We are going to need squad players as well as players with the view to them going straight into the starting eleven, and these two would do us a turn domestically no problem. Beyond that level, who knows.

It’s a pity we didn’t make moves earlier as both Holzhauser and Tanase signed new deals I think this year, where as they would have been bosman which would have helped our budget go further given the amount of players we need.

The thing with Tanase is FCSB always seem to do well when selling their best players so might end up being too pricey for us but does look a good player.

I agree having players who bring a bit more size to our team would be good. Given we play against packed defences so often having players who are decent in the air or capable of getting their shot off quick in tight spaces, along with quality delivery from open play would be good assets for breaking them down.

Holzhuaser’s contract is out 2023 and Tanase the same. Perfect time for selling but I do agree with you.

If it’s true the Joey Veerman is available for £5m we should be all over that.

Outstanding talent and would walk into our midfield.

You would think half the Premiership would be all over that though

Legia Warsaw just won the polish leage, I'd take their left back Filip Mladenovic, 8 goals and 10 assists in 33 games across all competitions this season. Serbian International, good experience with top clubs in Eastern leagues (won in Belarus with borisov, in Serbia with red star Belgrade)

Downsides, he's 29 so is getting on a bit, in contract til 2023 so will be at peak value to the club and he's used to playing with boruc behind him so is used to a competent goalie

I'd also have Kamil Piatkowski from. That league, 20 year old CB, 6 foot 3, 3 goals 3 assists in 30 games, team came 2nd in the league after finishing 10th the season before so clearly did something right

We could have probably signed Mladenovic for a free last summer too, as a few people touted him as an option for left back.

Piatkowski has signed for Salzburg I think and will move there in the summer.

Another Polish U21 international CB worth a look is Przemyslaw Wisniewski, he’s 22, 6,4 or 6,5, pretty decent on the ball and has one year left on his deal so would be available for a decent price.

Senegal RB, Youssouf Sabaly, is out of contract at Bordeaux in the summer. 28, very pacy. Whenever I’ve seen him, he’s seemed defensively decent, and skilful going forward.

There are quite a few potentially very good free agent options out there this year. Surely we’ve got someone looking at guys like this? Wouldn’t surprise me if we were asleep at the wheel as usual though.

Liking a few of the suggestions this last page. The re-build is going to be massive, I just hope we don't fill the squad with novices and projects and actually get some guys that have decent experience in. 19 year old CB's for example need to be playing alongside guys in their mid to late 20's. Such a crucial position where experience is invaluable.

It’s crazy that we all can come up with great realistic options for us to sign. Yet the club can’t? All it needs is one guy to look on this site * sake

It's the same every window, how our scouting team can be so * poor for so long is a mystery.

Could pick a starting 11 of players about to be free transfers and all within range, yet we won't be sniffing at any of them

Like the look of that Jamie McGrath at St.Mirren, impressed me whenever I've seen him, great set pieces and an eye for a goal. 13 from midfield.

Any of the Irish lads know much about him from his time in that League? I.e is he decent or is this a flash in the pan season.

Edit: just read Jim Goodwin says he's a perfect Celtic player but would take silly money to sign him. He's had 3 managers in England phone him to enquire and the Dons are after him.

2 League Titles at Dundalk and PFAI Young Player of the year a couple of seasons back and already a hun skelper.

McGrath, Nisbet and Boyle are all worth signing. We need to be intercepting cheap deals for players at the top level in Scotland if they've been unplayable.
