It's been a general rumour with some fans all season that he has been near the drink, not fully believing it myself and I do not mean it to judge the man, we all know he has past issues - maybe a lazy rumour for sure.
Initially as for "hiding" in his office, I said that's what Martin O'Neil did (I also didn't say "hid", it was MONs style, which clearly worked, to allow the coaches to coach and him to "manage"), if we presume (which is all we can with reading between lines and understanding the game) Lennon has followed from the one man he learnt most from, then it makes sense that he would be more inclined to copy a MON style.

I'll admit my tone then changes to say "hiding", but that is simply more to do with tone on the subject of his managerial ability and my own annoyance.

I don't remember it that way at all. It was Thommo who had the issue and Lennon thought him to be unreliable and punted him. This is revisionism for me.

Nah not once did I get the impression from any of his interviews pre, post, media conference that he was on the sauce. These things spill over so it would be noticeable. He likes a drink in his down time but when it comes to doing the job I've never had a question over him and drink.

The MON one is as bad as an example you can get of connecting him being in his office to players not knowing who they were playing for. His players most certainly did and you only need to speak of those who played under Lennon to know they def kno who the boss is as well.

We as club * it last season, Lennon was part of that and has walked. It wasn't drinking that done it, it wasn't hiding in his office that done it, it was just general incompetence from boardroom, to coaching staff, recruitment and players that done it. No need for the made up slurs.

There was definitely rumours. Whether they were true, or to what extent, I don't know, but it's false to say there wasn't any rumours.

The main one was talk among the Lennoxtown staff that he would turn up in the morning still drunk or severely hungover from the night before.

I'm not saying I know how true it is, and the term 'drinking problem' has a pretty subjective definition, but it's completely false to say there wasn't rumours.

There was certainly no drinking problem rumours for MON, Strachan, Mowbray, Deila and Rodgers.

Thats people putting 2+2 together and coming up with 10. There was zero rumours the season before when we won the treble, funny that. As usual when things are going badly there are wild rumours about everyone and everything.

I'm not arguing whether the rumour is true, I'm just telling you it's always been there and to pretend it hasn't is false, which you now seem to agree with.

If you want to say the rumour is bullshit that's fine, but don't pretend it doesn't exist. They were also certainly there when we were winning.

I remember rumours about Lennon's drinking last season too, though I treated them as bullshit as there was no evidence for them.

Genuinely I've not seen those rumours but then again I'm not on social media where rumours spread like wild fire and any wee guy sitting on the * can make nonsense up and it'll get passed around at the click of a button.

Going from what I read on here, fans I've socialised with and actually watching the man himself I've never had that thought. Maybe we move in different circles so what is true to me might be false to you and vice versa.

And just to clarify I don't now agree with it the only rumours that I have come across this season coincide with the surfacing of that recent Lennon video funnily enough. Nothing prior to that ever crossed my path.

From all the interviews from players on Si Ferry interviews about his first time round he wasn’t a manager to just sit in the office. He was a very ‘in the trenches’ with the players type.

I can’t square up what we’ve seen this season with the guy they’re talking about.

Well, I’m not going to do the work for you, but there’s plenty out there from the time, reporting that rumour.

Might not have been right, but it was definitely said a lot at the time. Search on here or Twitter, etc.

He wasn't allowed to have his own coaching staff because of the drinking culture the first time round

There were certainly rumours on social media about his drinking at Hibs - I work with a Hibs fanatic whose brother works for them and he was adamant at the time that it was an issue. I believe his departure agreement from Hibs included a non disclosure agreement so I guess we'll never know.

The only rumour I ever heard about his time back at Celtic was that the club were never taking Garry Parker back in as they felt he was a part of the problem?

In all honesty, I didn't want him back and have been infuriated by him this season. However, I can't say that I've ever seen any evidence that there was anything drink related to his performance this season.

Yeah I agree completely agree, I think professionalism was an issue but I wouldn’t go as far as to say the man himself has a drinking problem, it’s not nice to assume it based on rumour and speculation.

But as you say, the rumours have always been about, so I find it bizarre someone in this thread is only hearing it for the first time.

The fact he is saying that the problem this season is that we haven’t taken our chances let’s me know everything, our main problem is our defence or lack of it, we need a completely new defence. It must be our worst defence I’ve seen in a long time and he’s a big part of the blame, he seems a nice guy but he’s not up for the job.
