That's the thing. It's ok saying he was on X amount in this job or that job but eventually he'll be on a far lesser amount as nobody paying 6 figures will want to touch him with a bargepole. His next job will be in in an oil rich league or the MLS unless he's willing to take a serious cut you would imagine.

If Howe isn't coming , I would go for the guy from Man City. People will bring up how much they spend on their youth set up while forgetting how much Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc spend on their youth set up and how much we spend in comparison to other teams domestically. So that's not that big of an issue.

 

Aye I agree, it's either going to be a mega-bucks team from the MLS/Qatar/China, or he's going to need to take a project/lower level job under 6 figures. Even at that, I'd still put the likes of Porto/Benfica/Marseille ahead of us as likely destinations.

I like Maresca, he was my main choice before Howe was linked, and building a proper setup around him would be pretty exciting.

 

I think a lot of teams above us will be avoiding him as well due to his style of play etc. Porto maybe just because his past with them but a lot of teams will give him a wide berth, seems to carry a lot of baggage. Unless he's willing to take short term contracts.

Who knows though. His name is still massive in the game.


The Pep connection would be massive. You would imagine he has their whole set up heading in the right direction, which could be a great benefit to us if utilised properly.

Absolutely infuriating and baffling, why after all that time, there's still no communication from the club. Not even a general welcome to the club Dom or simple pre-planned q&a either. Regardless of the plans etc. The minimum is to liaise with us. Was certain we would have heard something by now, but not a sausage. And by the looks of it, why would there be any form of communication this remaining week. The board are having a complete nightmare here.

Our plans for next season are behind already.

Could we be getting ready for an announcement? Celtic wouldnt be able to announce howe and his backroom while they are still employed , grant handing in his notice may be following a process to get the announcement made!

 

It's absolutely scandalous that there hasn't been some sort of communication from the club. Even just to assure fans that plans are in motion. Some posters on here are trying to laugh it off with talk of Mourinho. Personally I find not one single thing about us just now funny. 40 years supporting us and I've never ever been so scunnered.

 

I have faith that the club is going to appoint a really good manager. Might be Howe, could be the Man city guy, could be someone from left field. After the way we surrendered the ten and the whole * show of this season and how easily the scum beat us last week I think will spur DD to push the boat out and bring in quality.
The club is a business now and DD knows in order to make money he can't go for someone of NL's calibre, the fans won't buy into it at all and so spending will be reduced. Bringing in another in the BR mould will see an immediate lift to the club and fans and we will, if it's the right man, dig deep to show support as we always have done.
So keep calm and be patient folks. Good things come to those who wait.

It's not that I don't have faith. We may well do as you say. It's the silence that riles me. I don't expect a reaction to every bit of gossip. But a bit of clarification as to where we are would go a long way.

 

There are loads of reasons why the club needs to be silent, potential candidates could be still under contract elsewhere and the club tend to do a lot behind the scenes. Keep the faith mate. DD must know he can't short hange the fans this time as it would be hurting his business and I dare say his pride.
