In the last few Scotland games he has been solid. The rebuild the new manager will have to carry out is massive, its going to cost millions. If we can pick him up for a reasonably small fee then it would make sense as there are many other positions that needs to be strengthened and it wont come cheap.

He’s bang average even as a backup, your running the risk of him having to play against Huns or in Europe due to the first choice being injured and I’d want him nowhere near those games

At a club like Celtic, and the way we want to develop players - our backup really should be a young player ready to push on for sure. Frimpong behind Lustig for one example.
Tierney breaking in for Izzy as the previous.

Once the youngster becomes good enough to demand the starting spot, you then look to sell on the older/experienced player for money and bring up the next youth player and/or sign in another potential talent.

What do we do? We resign Izzy to play backup to Tierney :56:
or sign Everton 3rd choice RB who is no better than our own 3rd choice RB who is now our 2nd choice RB.

The progression and logic is baffling to say the least.

O'Donnell would be of a similar baffling nature.
We NEED a RB, but we NEED a first team RB - we then need the backup to be a prospect (good enough to get game time).

Hence so many youth a walking away, we dont afford this sort of time and O'Donnell would be just another player that isn't good enough, wont ever be good enough and just take up space that an actual young talent needs to help develop.

I really disagree with that mate. He’s better than a lot give him credit for.

Selling Frimpong/Elhamed to replace one of them with O'Donnell. What a thought. We went from badly struggling at right back when Lustig was at the end of his time here, to then having two good ones in Frimpong and Elhamed, now we are toiling again. O'Donnell isn't the answer. We need a right back to go into the starting eleven, but you need someone to push them, and the backup would need to be better than O'Donnell to do that in my opinion. All this is based on us planning on playing with 4 at the back of course. We have already massively downgraded in the left back position, we should have learnt our lesson from that, because Taylor was far better than O'Donnell and Taylor isn't good enough either.

I would have O’Donnell at right back before El Hamed & Frimpong

He's at Motherwell. Would make decent back-up. Only back-up mind.

He has been solid for Scotland recently and is not too shabby at defending.

Problem for is, he is not that fast, not the best at crossing a ball and doesn’t get up and down the flank enough.

Just look at Kenny! We would be buying an older Kenny. Would be absolutely pointless.

We need attacking quick full backs who can support our attacking play and get back with a good engine.

    He plays for Motherwell, mate.

So it’s worse than that: we’d be buying a guy who’s been cast off by two Scottish Prem teams in the last 2 years. :36:

Saying today he’s close to a new contract extension with Motherwell and he knocked back one from Killie.

I mean he’s pish and nowhere near good enough for us but we don’t need to make * up to make him sound worse. He’s awredy gash.

Who’s making stuff up? If he came to us on a free, it’d be his third club in as many seasons; those are the facts.

People that are offered contracts and refuse them aren’t ‘cast offs’

Well, if he isn’t good enough for us (as you’ve already agreed), then it’s six and half a dozen, isn’t it? He’s no more chance of making it at Celtic than anyone else who’s had two clubs in two years, regardless of whether those clubs wanted to retain him.

Dk why you’re arguing on that, tbh.
