I agree. Too many people getting their hopes up just because he's passionate. KT is passionate and a massive tim and even he left.

If they're destined for the top, they'll leave and Ajer is.

Exactly. And if like KT, Ajer and Eddy they are destined for the top then they should leave eventually. We aren’t the only club to produce players to go onto bigger things, in fact I’ve always thought there was a certain beauty in being able to say “we put him on the platform to get to where he is” alla Van Dijk, Wanyama, KT, Moussa etc.

He's off this summer absolutely and good luck too him, he's done 5 years here. i think when his careers up, he'll have achieved more than the likes of Eddy or KT go on to do.

Scotland must be the only country whose team of the week play 5-4-1.

As for Ajer and all those calling for him as captain there is no chance he will be here next year. In his head he’s been here a year too long already and will definitely be looking to go.

Credit to him for his attitude a few others could learn a lot from his mature approach.

£12+mill and he's probably off which is a con.

He may not reach the heights of vvd but he's worth more than £12+mill

I haven't read too much on which teams are in for him & how much he will go for. For me he has huge potential.

Shouldn’t take less than £15 mil for him in the current state of transfers. Pre-covid I would of hoped 20-25

With only a year left we would never have got £20m. If we get £15m I'd say we've done well.

Said Ajer should've been made captain when Brown needlessly gave a penalty away to Hibs and put his head down for the rebound. Ajer was raging, the only one really trying at that point.

The usual narrative came in. Ajer wasn't trying because having ambitions above Celtic somehow means you don't try while you're here - a lazy opinion.

Would love to give him the captains armband, with McGregor staying as vice captain.
Throw a nice big contract at him and keep him here for years.
However for the current time, I'd just be happy if he signed a 4 year deal this week and we can put to bed him leaving this summer, knowing more than likely he leaves next summer anyway.

Need a new big name manager to sort out this mess. Whoever he is could make a huge statement by getting Ajer to sign a contract extension... However improbable that may be.

A big name manager in the same bracket as Rodgers and made captain, he may well stay for another season or two.

    Wishful thinking.

I think it might be !
He is young, talented & has a strong drive to win. You would think that clubs would be forming a line to grab this young man. A real shame to lose him but the money from Eddy & Kris gives you a big bag of money to invest.

Grown to totally respect him this season, you could see how angry and frustrated he was at the final whistle at Tannadice when the scum won the league, he was raging and the majority wearing the hoops didn’t give a * .

Hands down IMHO our player of the year this season. Hoping probably wishful thinking that our new manager can persuade him to stay and be one of the key players we build a new team around.

Newcastle are preparing to launch an £8million bid to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.

The Norway international has one year left on contract and has been urged to leave this summer by national team manager Stale Solbakken.

Celtic value Ajer highly but the 22-year old will be free to talk to foreign and cross-border clubs from January. That has weakened Celtic’s bargaining power and they face losing him for a fraction of what they had hoped for.

As with striker Odsonne Edouard, Celtic’s optimum time to sell would have been last summer but they wanted both key players to stay and help them secure ten league titles in a row. After failing in that objective, they are now looking at a huge summer overhaul.

Ajer has set his sights on a move to the Premier League though he is also attracting interest from Italy.

Solbakken insisted: ‘He has to change league now. He must. He does not have enough challenges in everyday life there.’

Norway assistant and Fulham defender Brede Hangeland echoed the sentiment saying he has called Ajer several times to say he needed a move to challenge himself.

For their part, Newcastle have long admired the 6ft 6ins centre back but will have to secure their Premier League status first to stand a realistic chance of persuading the player to join them.

Manager Steve Bruce is fighting for his future also but it is understood that would not affect Newcastle’s pursuit.

However, Newcastle do anticipate competition for Ajer’s signature and that will suit Celtic as they look to achieve optimum price for a player they believe is worth closer to £35m.

The last place Ajer needs to go to is Newcastle, it is a broken club !
I believe he can play for one of the top Premier league clubs. Getting top dollar for him in the post covid times will be difficult though as money will be tight this transfer window.
