I'm already disillusioned with this season to the point IV not bothered to much with our games, and to appoint Keane in any role is just going to put me off even more

As ive said i think keane is a contender but he wont be 1st choice ! His name has probably been linked as someone at sky probably knows hes been interviewed and thats why its being reported ! Marsch , maresca are at clubs so probably wont be broadcasting being interviewed and wilder is not working at the moment so no one needs to be informed !

 

And because DD runs with the mentality of "He's Irish so he's qualified".

If Desmond is seriously even considering Keane then someone will suggest to him it will be unpopular with the fans.

If you attitude is to just bend over and accept Keane then you’re one of the stupid *. It’s an obviously nepotistic decision (assuming it happens). That’s reason enough to protest against it from day 1.

It doesn’t matter what anyone actually thinks of Roy Keane, it’s hardly relevant.

Am I the only one who doesn't believe the Keane rumours at all? It just seems like an obvious name that the media have decided to run with, but it seems like the antithesis of where I think we're going to go with our next appointment, a DoF and a young coach. I still think itll be Maresca and Harkin.

 

As poor as the media have been for years, they genuinely seem to have hit all new lows over the last year. I don’t know if COVID having cancelled gatherings maybe drying up their scraps but they seem to look at fan forums and report what some are saying as a source.

I am not convinced it will be Keane that will be appointed.

 

I see Xabi Alonso has signed an extension with Sociedad B team and not joining Borussia M’Gladbach as reported. Probably putting Marsch completely out of our reach.

Just on that - why would Desmond think we would accept Keane though? Because he had a short stint with us back in the day? Or because he was a legend for Ireland?

 

I'd say it's a backwards step. Lennon was and is more qualified for the job than Keane.

If - as Desmond suggested in his Q&A - we appoint people on a meritocratic basis, then Keane should be nowhere near our short-list never mind being appointed.

Not managed in 10 years, failed in both posts prior to then.

It would be the opposite of a meritocratic appointment.

I'd be happy with Marsch or Maresca. * it.

If we can get Marsch, it's a no brainer. If we want to build something we should go for Maresca as he seems to have huge potential.

I'd love to have Marsch as head coach and Maresca as assistant. Reckon that'd be amazing.

 

Quite incredible to think we have 2 players remaining from the invincible season. You would put money good money on 1 remaining going into next season. Any how, seeing this just makes you realise how big the rebuild is. For me, putting it in Keane's hands defies belief. That being said, am not all up for this Maresca everyone is getting excited about either.

We absolutely have to get this right, neither Keane or maresca should be trusted to do that imo. This rebuild needs a tried and tested man.
