That was a good scroll down, well til 25 anyway :54:, apart from that I can't really complain about the top picks tbh. A worthy winner.

Once again thank you for the time you have set aside to do all of this @Taz and sorry I never got back to saying why I picked my No.1 film. I did mean to try and say something but I just got sidetracked with other stuff (work) sadly. There are a few reasons and I was struggling to word what I wanted to say about the film, still am tbh, so I'll settle for the much less deep/meaningful "It was just a superb all round film".

For those keeping score, Clint Eastwood is in 9 of the Top 50

    • High Plains Drifter
    • Hang 'Em High
    • Two Mules For Sister Sara
    • Pale Rider
    • Outlaw Josey Wales
    • Unforgiven
    • and all three of the Dollars trilogy

For what it's worth, this is more than the next 2 in line, John Wayne (5) & Burt Lancaster (3) combined.

Oh, we will get there, however rest assured there is still quite a few to get through before then, lol.

    Clint Eastwood rocks!

I could never take John Wayne all that seriously - there was just something slightly comedic about his performances, and I dare say a wee bit ‘camp’.

He’s Roger Moore whilst Clint is Big Tam Connery.

Excellent work again @Taz , Westerns aren't my thing and I think No Country For Old Men is the only film on the list I've seen

Clint actually turned down the man with the harmonica role in Once Upon a Time in the West and then Charles Bronson took the role.

As much as I love Charlie boy in it, Clint would have taken the role to another level.

I went through a wee spell during the lockdown watching some of the John Wayne ones. Good the bad and the ugly is one of the best films ever made imo. Must have watched it about 10 times over the years.

Well done Taz, great job, I've came to the party late which is slightly annoying, but it's been excellent seeing all the bhoys and Ghirls choices.

Cant argue with those top ones, and whilst I went for Unforgiven, it's hard to top the no. 1, it probably is the perfect choice. Has for me the most iconic Western tune of all. Actually getting me in the mood to watch some old classics now.

Someone mentioned about their late father being a fan and it passed on, that's how I feel (my Dad is still with us), and brings back child memories.

    Super work.

Will need to take a quick look later and put my tuppence worth into earlier threads.

There were some horrific atrocities committed, Soldier Blue is another extremely graphic true depiction of the Sandy Creek Massacre. Absolutely gut wrenching.
