I agree - would prefer a proven manager although all appointments are a risk.

However, I'd sooner do this (assuming Harkins would also be joining as DoF) than someone like Keane.

Obviously I'd prefer us to go and get someone like Howe or Benitez, but the Maresca link does excite me, far rather get him than appoint Kennedy, Keane, even Clarke tbh.

If Kennedy gets the job I will honestly struggle to bother watching us next season.

Maresca is a huge risk with seemingly good contacts. If it is him I sure hope it pays off.

    Still prefer Eddie Howe though.

Maresca has just taking over as favourite on Sky Bet. Bookies odds when it comes to managers mean very little but strange to have Kennedy 2/1 when he only has to manage 8 more games which is quite likely he will do with the SC back.

It feels like it's a toss between Webb (DoF) and Howe (HC)
    Or
    Harkin (DoF) and maresca (HC).

The ultimate would be a combination of all four.

Harkin as DoF, Webb to replace Hammond in a head of scouting role, Howe as head coach and maresca as an assistant that will work with the development squad with an eye to taking over in two years time from Howe.
Perfect time to learn the club, understand the youth talent and then be ready to take over and bring on a wealth of talent.

But that would be too much goodness and sense from Celtic.

So we will get Kennedy with Collins as a DoF.

Unfortunately Maresca means we’re probably appointing Harkin as DOF.

I’d love Rafa Benitez to be standing in the centre circle with a hoops scarf hoisted above his heid personally.

The cyclops has awakened from his slumber over in govan to, unsurprisingly, stick the boot in.

We can’t be doing with half measures now, we have huge ground to make up over a short period of time and the rebuild will only work in the hands of an experienced big name who will galvanise the support behind him. Get the stadium full, get the quality in the squad and get us playing a brand of strong attacking football again that’s lorded over Scotland for a decade.

Show up the rookie across the city as the 1 in 8 trophies manager he is. Send him packing down the road as the Liverpool U18’s manager.

    Rafa is a pipe dream.

He's at the * end of his LIFE and collecting shekels for his retirement.

He knocked back Newcastle over wages (as well as reported issues with investment in the academy and training ground) and took a job in China ffs.

The good news might be he's willing to go anywhere if the bag is big enough, the bad news IS, is that we don't have a * bag.

Certainly not one big enough to do a rebuild AND pay his ludicrous wages.

It's also been reported that he's looking a move back to either Napoli or Liverpool.

So let's just put this one to bed.

Eddie Howe would be a great capture, Maloney or indeed Enzo would be tolerable.

But McInnes has just jumped in at 16/1, higher odds than Martinez, Rafa, Sean * Dyche and Roy Keane... so let's not kid ourselves on about were we stand financially when it comes to attracting quality.

The best we can hope for is a young, tactically sound, forward thinking manager looking to use us to make a name for himself on the European stage... Howe, Maloney and Enzo tick those boxes.

    This.

I like the idea of Maresca coming in, but tbh we aren’t in the position right now to hve a rookie manager earning his wings next season. We need a tried and tested manager with experience, especially one who knows how to set a team up and shore up the titanic-esque leak in our defence. Rafa ticks all them boxes. Man has won just about everything in domestic fitba ffs...

Obviously a good manager is imperative no matter his background, but in a way I think it would be a huge advantage if he was a bit box office. Fans are pig sick just now with pretty much everything to do with the club. Think it will take something big to get lots of them to renew.

Rafa is the obvious answer to our problems but it just feels like a pipe dream.

City have the youngest squad in PL2 and are on course to smash the goals scored record.

Despite the lack of experience I find Maresca exciting. He is probably the type of guy to get young guys going and get them to a high level.
If we get a tried and tested manager it will be one with plenty of tarnishes to their history. Premiership clubs will outbid us for any manager and will be more attractive.
