Celtic are delighted to announce that Conor Hazard has signed a new two-year contract that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper finalised his new contract today (Wednesday) before speaking exclusively to Celtic TV.

Hazard progressed through the Celtic Academy and made his first-team debut earlier this season in Celtic’s 3-2 Europa League win against Lille at Paradise. His league debut came three days later which saw Celtic record a 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park.

Hazard won his first piece of silverware with the senior side on December 20thafter helping the Hoops win the Scottish Cup to complete the Quadruple Treble. Hazard played a vital role in the game by saving two of Heart’s spot-kicks in the penalty shoot-out.

The Irish stopper has one senior international cap to his name after making his debut for Northern Ireland in a friendly against Costa Rica in June 2018. Before making his first-team debut Hazard gained experience with loan spells at Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Dundee, where he kept six clean-sheets in 11 appearances last season.

Not trusted to start over Bain and Barkas but give him a new deal anyway. Tbf I still think he could be a decent keeper, good shot stopper but coming off his line he’s been very shaky albeit the ones in the cup final are a free kick in any other game with the protection keepers get.

Keeps the quota for academy and Scottish born players for Europe I suppose.

2 year deal, means little to nothing.

Unlike the brown situation, this one makes perfect sense.
Young keeper who obviously isn't number 1 but is now seen as a squad player to give some option for next season.

If we read in to it at all, it's likely Bain is the one to be shipped out first with hazard taking backup to either Barkas or a new kepper all together

I seriously don't rate him cause he got bullied by Naismith in the League Cup final. Yeah he saved a penalty in the shoot-out but it should never have gone that far

If all it takes to put the fear of * in our keeper is to stand on top of him and make it hard to come for crosses at a set-piece then he will never make it here.

Jesus! Lots of people piling onto a (relatively) young lad on his debut season. The main point being he naively got caught out by a known filthy *, with about 20 years top team experience of niggling keepers and defenders... with friends like these...

A very quick look at our first team and the attached image shows his age relative to others in our first-team setup. Yes many have more first-team experience but he can't get a sniff while many on here are shouting how Ajer, who is younger, should be given the captain's armband.

22 is no longer young or a youth in football. The second image shows keepers in the English premiership who have had minutes this season. Ramsdale, Sanchez, and Meslier are all younger and played at least 15 games each. Dean Henderson is a cracking keeper who played a full season last year at Sheffield United and was in serious consideration for an England call-up

I get the sentimentality of a (relatively) young lad coming through our youth into the first team. But he is not better than the two keepers in front of him in the pecking order and that is a big worry.

Also, it's not that he got naively caught out. He got continually caught with no answer or any assertiveness while on his line. If a past-it Naismith would do that do you not think the likes of Morelos or others wouldn't do the same? He looked like a frightened wean and if we didn't win the cup he would already be done here. Unfortunately, we can't afford to hold on to those he won't make it, and at 22 (23 in two days) being happy to sit on the bench no matter his position makes me question.

I really hope he proves me wrong because I want the best for Celtic but I just can't see it to be honest

Played for N.I. today. They lost but according to reports from a deflection he couldn't do anything about. Had a few other decent saves.

Get him out on loan next year. He’s good enough to be playing in the Premiership, just not with us at the moment.

Dundee are keen to land Conor Hazard back on-loan from Celtic for their Premiership return.

The Northern Ireland international had a successful loan at Dens Park in the 2019-20 season.

Dundee boss James McPake tried to get him back for the last campaign but Hazard was handed a new contract and also got a run in the Celtic first-team.

Celtic struggled for a consistent No. 1 with Vasilis Barkas failing to live up to his big-money price tag and Scott Bain also was in and out.

New boss Ange Postecoglou has come in but he is likely to bring in a new keeper with Brighton’s Matt Ryan a top target

That could knock Hazard further down the pecking order and he is at an age where he needs first-team football.

Celtic are aware of Dundee’s interest and could strike a deal once Postecoglou nail’s down his own No.1.

If Hazard did travel north again he would have to fight it out with Adam Legzdins for the gloves.

The Englishman was impressive in helping Dundee to win promotion.

Not a bad loan really, could get him a whole season of top flight games.

If he gets game time it would definitely be a decent move.
