No * about. High caliber, experienced manager. No projects.

A new manager doesn't want to face two potential humpings off the hun just in the door imo. Just like Pedro did at the huns

I would actually take Maloney, no sweat.

He's been lauded by everyone in sundry associated with the Belgian national set up, has won all the plaudits for his tactical mind, and sets very high standards for those he works with.

I mind reading a BBC interview with him a year or so ago and I was really really impressed with how he sees "positional play" (defending and attacking as a fluid unit) as the defining philosophy of the modern game.

He'll have good contacts on the continent, his pick of assistants with like minded philosophies, and he would be an instant hit among the fans.

I certainly wouldn't see it as another Celtic man waltzing into a job he's not suitable for.

Talking a good game means nothing am afraid. Mowbray talked a very good game on arrival. In the end I was left wonderings who's set up was worse, Barnes or mowbrays. Let's face it, deilas reign was fairly successful and he too spoke a great game, not many of us enjoyed what we were watching though.

We all got a soft spot for Maloney but he has done absolutely nothing to suggest he merits the position as manager. By all means come here as number 2 weather that be for Martinez or someone else. He certainly hasn't earned the right to be our manager yet though.

I like the idea of Maloney coming in. It makes sense..

As number 1 though? That's a big gamble..

Could pay off but I'd prefer Maloney as a number 2 first here..

Maloney won’t touch the job unless there’s a proper structure in place.

People saying Clarke had to play the type of football he did because of the players he had. While I agree to an extent, it doesn’t mean that he’ll have a better team playing a more entertaining brand of football.

Some managers have a style of play that they trust to get results and aren’t bothered about how pretty on the eye it is.

    Look at Mourinho.

I'm baffled that people think Martinez would actually walk away from one of the top international footballing set ups on the planet... with realistic chances of glory... including the WORLD CUP...

.... to come to Scotland to play against Ross * County at Dingwall in the * freezin rain, on a fraction of what he's getting now.

There's nothing wrong with high expectations, but a modicum of realism wouldn't go amiss ffs.

My first choice would be Eddie Howe as I think we have more of a chance in getting someone of his ilk rather than Martinez or Benitez who would probably see Scotland as a backwater.

On Martinez aswell, I dont think Belgium will want to lose him. This Great Belgian team is coming to an end, with a lot of them in their 30's now. Their last Real chance at getting a trophy with the Euros and World Cup next year. They will want to keep the structure with Matinez and he will want to stay for that reason too. A chance at both Majors within a year. After those tourneys they are left with a 34 YO Eden Hazard, 33 YO KDB & 34 Lukaku ,everyone else gone by the next finals.

I would take Moloney though! Gained a lot of experience through working with some of the best, highly though of by Martinez aswell

It would certainly be an interesting appointment with potential to be a master stroke.

I think his success would depend on his back room staff. Would need full autonomy to bring in his own people.

Ideal situation would be Martinez and Maloney come in, Martinez moves on 3 yrs down the line leaving Maloney in charge

I would take Maloney as the number 2, if it was Martinez as manager. If it isn't Martinez though, whoever it is needs to be allowed to choose the number 2.

Eddie Howe would be my first choice. His assistant at Bournemouth is also available again to work with him.

Not gonna lie i did find it weird how his assistant stayed on, i always thought managers and assistants travelled as a team.

People are being naive if they think Clarke is all of a sudden going to change from the football his teams have played all his managerial career.

Maloney a massive gamble not worth taking. There’s more proven options available.
