He may not jump but Barkas is still slightly better than Bain. With the same same * defence he had 9 clean sheets in 20 games compared to only 4 in 15 from Bain. Not a huge cap but slightly better. And even without diving he only conceded 21 in 20 compared to 22 in 15. So Bain may dive but that doesn't prefent that many gosls, does it?

But that's not the main reason for me to play Barkas. There's a logic in playing him to see if he can improve and if it makes sense to actually keep him, preferably with a keeper like Marshall in. We know Barkas would have the potential. With Bain we know he doesn't have the potential to be our number one lomg term. We can gain absolutely nothing as he isn't any better than Barkas. With Barkas in goal we at least have a slight chance to save some of the 5m we paid for him.

Dunno why but I'm willing to see what he can offer under new management.... Assuming the new management are actually given their own team and allowed to bring in what they want to help coach their ways.

Lennon says he was finding it hard to adjust here and think he will be off in the summer and all the keepers at present not good enough for Celtic and we need two quality keepers in the summer .

If he doesn’t start today it’s confirmation for me that he’s looked as * in training as in games and we’ve been robbed of 5m

Wow. OK so if we're going by stats then, Barkas has a 45% clean sheet record and concedes avg 1.05 goals per game. Bain has a 26% clean sheet record and concedes avg 1.46 goals per game. Connor hazard has made 7 appearances, kept 4 clean sheets, 57%, and conceded 6 goals, 0.85 goals per game.

So on stats alone Connor hazard should be our no 1, yes?

Not in the squad again, even with Lennon gone. To say that it’s telling would be an understatement.

He must be finished here? Feel sorry for him but if he can't make the squad then either he is either struggling with the move or has attitude problems surely?

I think he'll do an Elhamed and be back in Greece come the summer.

Celtic flop keeper Vasilis Barkas could be handed a way out of his Parkhead nightmare with high-flying Greek club PAOK weighing up a loan move for him.

The Greek keeper has endured a horror first season in Scotland since Celtic splashed out £4.5 million him and he lost his place to Scott Bain and Conor Hazard too.

But he could be given a chance to resurrect his career in his homeland with the Thessaloniki club who currently sit in third place in the Greek Super League.

Celtic know they have next to no chance of recouping anything like their investment for the 26-year-old, who had only nine clean sheets in his 20 appearances for the club in all competitions and also lost his place in the Greek national team this season for the World Cup qualifiers.

He still has three years left of his bumper deal he signed when he moved to Glasgow in July.

The deposed champions are hoping to send Barkas on loan instead and there has been interest from clubs in the Netherlands and in Belgium.

But PAOK have become the first club to make a firm enquiry about the availability of Barkas and are keen on taking him back to his homeland for next season.

I think we should put him in over Bain, he looked competent against us and with that awful defence in front of him, anyone would look bad.

If not then sell him, * this loan pish.

Must be absolutely * for the guy. For everyone's sake getting him a permanent move if the new manager doesn't feel he can cut it seems far preferable.

The signing was a mistake. The club know that. The word is he is no better in training that what we have seen on the park. Who was responsible for his signing is now gone from the club. We move on

I believe he's better than Bain.

Bain is far superior with ball at feet but in all other categories I rate Barkas ahead.
Bains technique is appalling. Hes late with his hands to the ball on most saves, there's been loads of examples over the past 6 or so games where balls have squirmed almost away from him, shots have hit his face or chest rather than his extended hands. It's very noticeable. Didn't he have a busted nose recently because one smashed him in the face with him missing the catch?
He punch saves far too often. Not commanding physically in the box at all.

Barkas confidence must be incredibly low. As a keeper it's very hard to recover from that. Whether he can come back from that with us who knows. I would give him some of the dead rubber league games, can't do any harm.

Even tho I rate him higher than Bain, unfortunately right now Bain is probably the best option for the cup games which is downright scary. Desperate how bad we are in this position. The pathetic contract offered to Gordon really biting us in the *. Plus the vast majority of fans seemed to want him gone too. Pity.

Barkas can't save anything he has to slightly stretch for so I'd say bain is a better goalkeeper. None of them are good enough to be number 1.

If the loan is true then make sure we give them an option to buy and get rid of him.

One of the worst keepers I’ve seen at the club for a long time.

I wouldn’t rush to offload him until the new man has had his chance to properly assess..

Rodgers turned around players like Brown, Forrest, Jozo....

(The ‘night and day ‘ training regime difference between RD and BR cited here)

There’s every reason that Howws training regimes will be even more night and day compared to Lennon’s.
