Liam Shaw

19 year old from Sheffield Wednesday. Apparently we are close to signing on a pre contract and that all details have been agreed.

He is highly rated by the Wednesday fans and made 12 appearances this year. Plays as a centre half or in midfield.

 

We really should be looking at more pre-contracts. There is value and minimal risk.

I don't know anything about the guy but delighted we've been making inroads on some players.

Midfielder that can play defender shows he must have a bit a dig about him and can tackle , must be trying to beef up our team which we have been lacking tbh

 

I like the look of Shaw, given he seems to have got his career of to a flyer at Sheffield Wednesday. Given the number of new options we need at CB getting Shaw for a nominal fee would be good business.

Only 19, so the question for us would be will we play him? If we do we could have a good option in CM that will add physicality and height which we are sorely lacking or even a potential replacement to Ajer as a CB who is comfortable bringing the ball out from the back.

Agree with other posts that we really need to maximise the bosman opportunities as we are going to need a fair few in during a market where we will be selling to buy. Therefore getting good players without a fee would be very welcome.

RW: Andrew Hjulsager; Issac Mbenza
LW: Marco Grull; Queensy Menig
ST: Sydney Van Hooijdonk, Marko Livaja, Ali Akman

Given we pretty much need players in nearly every position across the team picking up a few of the above or others on bosmans where there is a good level of quality there and allows us to make 3 signings of decent value for say a first choice ST, LB and Winger.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to lose talented midfielder Liam Shaw to Celtic.

Yorkshire Live understands Shaw has reached a pre-contract agreement with the Scottish club and will move to Celtic Park this summer


Wednesday have been in talks with with Shaw's representatives over a new contract for a number of months. His rapid rise to prominence caught Celtic's eye and they made their interest known in him in January.

It is believed the 19-year-old has agreed terms with Celtic and is set to head north of the border following the climax of the 2020/21 season.


The added bonus for the Bhoys is that they will only have to pay a small compensation for Shaw, due to his age, rather than a potentially inflated transfer fee.

A £300,000 has been mooted - an absolute snip compared to what Wednesday could command for him in the transfer market.


Shaw, a graduate of the Owls' youth system, has established himself as a first-team regular this season. He has made 15 appearances for the Championship club, scoring once. Shaw, a boyhood Wednesday fan, has been largely deployed in midfield but can also operate in central defence.

Don't know too much about the lad. At 19 sounds like a very good prospect and highly thought of down South. A prospect he is though and for the lads sake, I hope Lennon is not here to coach him as his career will stall.

 

Again the board haven't learned their lesson Only takes a priemership club to step in and we are screwed again as it doesn't say he's signed just reached a agreement .

So now it’s all signed and sealed I’ve taken an interest in him. Looks like he’s a good young lad. Will be 20 soon, can play midfield ( his preferred option) but happy to play CB. I think we can guess where he’ll end up

 

In the reserves?

 

Let's be fair to the lad, he will get a random LB appearance 7 months in to next season, be deemed a flop and then left to rot in the reserves.

 

According to radio Clyde the transfer is being investigated * sake and we thought the season couldn't get any worse .
