David Turnbull

Sadly Turnbull has the same * of an agent Christie has

 

He’s been uncharacteristically rusty today up in Perth.

 

Far too good for this team right now, his attacking creative style is totally wasted here.

 

He was * today to be fair.

 

Below par today. Was at McDiarmid last time as well..

 

With Rogic and Christie playing, that's always gonna happen.
With a proper RW playing, Forrest hopefully, he'll have space to boss it even more..

 

He seen enough of the ball, it was his use of it that wasn't good enough. He has been brilliant for us, but he just wasn't at the races today.

 

These type of games are not suited to Turnbull's style of play. Teams sitting in and the pitch doesn't help him.

He is a huge talent, and one has to imagine that we have yet to see him at anywhere near his best. With proper coaching and management, he will flourish.

It's almost as if (not directed to you McGuire) when we play someone else in Turnbulls position with him, he is forced out of his favoured position and role and cant do his job properly because Ely or Christie are being greedy *.

 

Nah the 2 nil game we won late on...he was subbed off and pretty poor...as was most of the side..

He was then dropped after that really for a while..

I agree he's best in the 10. Does have a lack of pace that can lead to him being bypassed a bit when further back but I still rate him highly..

Once he's fully over his injury/knee's and in a fluent Celtic side...we'll see ghe best of him..

He can work on stuff to give him that half yard. Seen it with the likes of KT (who is very fast anyway I know)..

 

He's quality..

Lots more to come to. Maybe when we have proper width in the side you'll see his full range of passing.

He doesn't have loads to work with. Edoaurd doesn't go in behind a lot. When he does....Davie finds him (see Rugby Park last week)..

Most of it is to feet and quite congested though. Definitely loads more to come and the likes of Forrest would suit him running in behind..

 

Definitely. Although he's been pretty poor Ajeti makes more space for him with the runs behind he makes. Eddy is lazy that way

 

This is the key point in any debate about Turnbull, Rogic or Christie at the moment, even Elyounoussi.

I played as a 10 for years and there’s nothing more frustrating than receiving the ball and having zero options available to you. You end up being passive or forced into trying World Cup passes or what look like glory hunting shots from distance (*cough Christie cough*).

Lennon’s “tactics” go along way to completely neutralising our attacking threats and the lack of width makes us so easy to play against (and man-mark players like Turnbull). Our team today had Edouard, Turnbull, Christie and Rogic all trying to operate in the same areas (where McGregor is arguably at his best too!) and every manager in the country can see it coming.

We won’t see the best out of Turnbull (or any of our players) until we have proper coaching, proper tactics and a proper style.

 

Not to his usual standards today. Had a couple of moments that would you would expect him to be successful. The one where he tried to play Brown in, must have been down to the park. Not * chance a guy of his ability would be so inaccurate. Had a similar opportunity a wee bit later. On the break and McGregor was busting a gut to get round him on the overlap. Think he wanted to play in McGregor, but he was getting closer to goal and took the shot. Just a wee delay and it would have been on.

Guy has barely put a foot wrong since coming into the team. Consistently our biggest chance creator over the last few months(and a decision or two away from it today).

Vital we keep getting him the ball and allowing him to do his thing.

 

Honest to * cannot wait to see him next season, he's been fantastic under an absolutely pish side so imagine him under a good one?
