Did we actually? Not sure I can remember that clearly, but thats even more mental if we did and then we arent giving him a single chance here.
He should be the next in rotation with Mcgregor.

Right, scared this is going to end up on a mad tangent....Harper.....good luck son.
May never be good enough for us, most arent, but good luck to him at least getting the chance to prove himself at some level.

Thought he looked rotten to be honest and then went down with an ‘injury’ whilst having said nightmare.

I thought the injury looked a bit suspect.

He was having a nightmare of a game and I think he got himself taken off.

He should never have been put in that situation in the first place though.

Our club's in a mess from top to bottom.

I just hope the lad can rebuild some self confidence. There's a good keen footballer there.

Most of them have * off to places with an equally poor record in bringing through youths. Bluntly put they've went for superior surroundings and more cash...much the same as our first team guys do. Don't get all dramatic about it.

On a side note you have clearly been the most prevalent poster since things went * up for us. Some would say you are revelling in it.

What exactly is that meant to mean? :56:

Quick maths for you, I average out around 5 posts a day over the last 8 years, sounds about right. Maybe a bit more active these last few months for sure, but then like most things in life, people are more vocal at complaining than praising when it comes to most things. Forgive me for falling in to the psychological trap of human kind.

As for the youth leaving, clearly they are going to superior surroundings, thats literally the point - we dont actually offer them what we pretend to be offering. For more money? Maybe some are. But we won't really know.

Most of them will be going to more money by default since they’re leaving academy contracts for their first professional one. So that’s not really an argument, except for some cases like Islam Feruz. And at least in this case, I think that Red Bull might be one of the top places in the world for bringing through young talent... they even do the same for their coaching/managerial staff.

Which is literally where we need to get as a club as well.
Stop bringing in makeshift managers and start to build a footballing structure that actively develops coaches along with players.

Guys like Kennedy, McManus, O'Dea and soon to be Brown SHOULD be in our coaching setup at varying degrees - but they SHOULD also be getting sent monthly to different clubs for coaching sessions and development - much like Rodgers and Deila talked about doing when visiting Dortmund, Ajax, City, Madrid etc.

No wonder our players want to leave here for these sort of clubs, when they actively are trying to be modern and developing football talent across the board - we just pretend we do in Scottish context and never actually follow through.

What players have they brought through? I’ve no idea about them at all but that’s been the model at Salzburg and RBL before they sold them.

If you’re asking about RBNY, they sold Tyler Adams and Matt Miazga, also developed Tim Weah for a few years. And Caleb Clarke will be heading to Leipzig in the summer when he turns 18. Jesse Marsh developed as a manager there and will most likely move to a good Bundesliga job next year or the year after.

Also important to point out that if this were years ago I’d be against his moving. We’ve developed clearly a longer list than the one for RBNY, but the trends are definitely going in opposite directions. That’s what makes it all the more frustrating for me.

Good luck to the lad. I wonder did the new brexit realities have anything to do with this move as well given Harper is not a regular US international it might have been hard to get him a work permit in future.
    The clear-out begins!

Do we know how much we got for Harper? I am assuming probably just a development fee of a couple hundred thousand or something like that.

I would imagine it will be about £250-300k around what we would have got as a development fee if he had moved as a bosman.
